3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2003 Very nice pour, you can get a nice little brown head out of it. Quite sweet/fruity down in there, well mixed with the fairly typical roasty/smoky elements. Good smooth palate. Very drinkable, as the acohol is a little lower than some others (approx. 1% lower...?). Thanks OldGrowth.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a serious imperial stout, big, black and bold. Loaded with roasted malts, it brims with chocolate and molasses, enough to forgive the use of those damn cascade hops. Super fat mouthfeel, with really smoothly integrated flavours. Butt kickingly good!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Malty choco-hop aroma with a black color. Hoppy mocha flavor that seems a little too thin. Otherwise it's wonderful.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rich black color, tan head. Smell is of dark fruits ( raisons, prunes and maybe figs) bittersweet chocolate, coffee, liqorice, pipe tobacco and spices. The taste is prunes, raisons and chocolate covered cherries. Hops are evident, but not obstrusive and the brew finishes with a soothing alcohol warmth. Kind of mild for an Imperial but tasty.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft - A big, big chewy Imperial stout. Great color and head. This beer filled the glass nicely. Had great chocalte, malt and hop flavor. A great beer that I'm surprised isn't rated higher.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The nose was a bit weak for an imperial stout. Other than that, this is a big, chewy, roasty beer. Very enjoyable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Mega creamy dark tan head. There was also a nice cascade down the inside of the glass, a-la Guinness. (Is this typical of stouts?) Flavor was chocolaty, malty. Just the right amount of bitterness throughout, right to the finish. And that ABV fought through a full stomach to put me out after dinner! I'll remember this one as a final beverage after a hard day's work.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours super dark, motor oil black, small-medium sized dark tan head which quickly diminishes, minimal lacing. Aroma has coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt to it, although it's not too strong (especially compared to some others in this style). Flavor is roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, and a slight burnt/smokiness that poked through at the end. Body is on the fuller side of medium, flavor lingers on with the bitter chocolate being last to leave.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This one pours a thick, viscous material with a jet black color. The head is very small and tan initially but rapidly dissappears leaving nothing but faint traces that it ever existed. The aroma is a little weak, but I detect some chocolate and coffee notes and a faint burnt, roasted malt character. The flavor is full of roasted malts with big chocolate and coffee flavors. The finish is full of coffee and bitter undertones. This one is not quite on the Imperial Stout level as far as flavor and robustness go, but it is definitely a very nice stout to drink.
