COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed in the early 19th century for export from Britain to the imperial court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, imperial stouts are characterized by their dark color & full body. This style features a rich, malty sweetness coupled with aggressive hopping (especially in American interpretations). Notes of dried fruit as well as roasted malt flavors are typically present.

~’09~ 22oz. Big black stout! It’s got a roasty aroma but not in the typical coffee sense. While it may have a slicker mouthfeel than other more-chewy Impies; there’s still a lot going on! Choc.y malts w/ various nutty flavors and the hops are ever present. It’s a very solid stout.

Black color with brown head. Aroma and taste are quite subdued. Some roasted malt and dark fruits, quite classic. Heavy body, light carbonation. To simple for my taste.

65 cl bottle (10,5%) @ home. Bottled 02/2015
Aroma has some salty licorice and tobacco. Flavour has salty licorice, some ash, coffee and tobacco. Palate has some warming alcohol. Ashy and salty – but not too much. Almost.
