COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

12oz bottle. I always enjoy smuttynose’s labels. Complex taste. Has the perfect amount of bitterness, with a very pleasant and long aftertaste. The palate is perfect, very crisp and thin. I went into my local Kroger in Athens, OH, craving a stone IPA but they were all out, so I got this instead. At $8, it’s much more affordable than $11 for Stone, and satisfies nearly as much. Definitely one of the better IPAs I’ve had.

Nice offering, smells of good hop aroma, with some piney notes, not super bitter but a nice amount for an IPA, good mix of malts and hops. I would have this one again

Picked up a six pack from Binny’s in Skokie b/c i read a review in maxim stating it was a quality beer. just tried my first one and i am disappointed. It’s not what i expected from an ipa and I have 5 bottles left. I will have to give it a second try on a different day.

Same bottle as pictured. Who are these old guys? Pours clear golden brown with small head that retains. Good lacing on the glass. A good all around IPA that is very blended and isn’t too strong.

Thanks to jrocket for this. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, hop and a little pineapple. Taste has a nice crisp hop flavour and bitterness. Slightly floral and very citrusy. A great everyday IPA.

Bottle: Hazy, deep golden coloured, small and stable off-white head; initial caramelly fruitiness is followed by a mild, but distinctive dry herbal hoppiness; dry moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, quite soft; lingering dry spicy-hoppy finish. A goody, no doubt, but not great......

Looks like a creamsicle in a glass. Opaque orange with two fingers of white head. Muted hop aroma. Fruity and piny with some grapefruit pungency. Very piny and dry taste. Bitter. None of the fruity aroma powers through the piny bitter dryness. Nice dry and sticky finish. A solid and good IPA.

Bottle at Tilt. Looks very good with its clean hazy golden color and a big white head that stays. Aroma of flowers, citrus and malt. Dryhopped taste of grass, grain and fruit. Not very bitter, both in taste and finish this reminds me more of an american pale ale. Still a good one
