4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is one hellava fine IPA -- the pour provided a robust white head on a golden body -- wonderful initial hop fragrance -- and then the first sip (and everyone thereafter) just explodes with just the right balance of hops and semi-sweet maltiness. Put this in a blind taste against Stone/Victory/etc. and it may come out on top!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
It works pretty well. Probably my favorite of the Smuttys, even though it is far from my favorite of the American IPAs available now. Strongly citrus, slightly malty, not exceptional but nicely balanced. Good hoppy bitter finish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2006 WHAT A GEM !!! Pours a golden coppery color with a nice thick white head. Unfiltered, as you can see the hops floating around. Smells of intense grapefruit and lemon. Taste is bitter grapefruit, yet very smooth. Funny label on bottle. Outstanding IPA !!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Intense grapefruit and lemon rind aroma, dripping with an incredible dry-hopped presence, multiple layers of earth and lemon and citronella in the aroma. Love that it is unfiltered. Intensely bitter, but never stringy. Resiny, luscious and for total hopheads. I was surprised at the quality of this beer. Served in good glassware at the frat party that is known as Cole’s Restaurant in Buffalo, NY.

Bon corps.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a somewhat cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is mildly grassy with some grapefruit notes. Flavor is resiny and a "mixed bag" of hops, but very little in the way of maltiness. Body is med.-light. Finish is heavily bitter but not astringent.
