COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Stock, hoppy PA aroma. Lightly hazy, orangey gold. Hoppy, pretty clean. Hops build, not too sweet, some crackery notes. Sturdy mouth, long finish with very light diacetyl. On tap, Blind Tiger, NYC. HHR 4th trip.

This is a damn good beer! Bought bottle in NJ (not available in GA - at least that I can find). Nice classic IPA orange/copper color, fluffy egg-white head, and zingy hop flavor, but not one that hits you over the head - more subtle. Definitely a grapefruitesque note in the palate. Try this beer!

Pours out just like your average IPA, hazy orangish-golden little head but a fuzzy white rim around the glass. Aroma gives out a big hint of hops, grapefruit, pine, some malt but very mellow. Taste is similar but tamed, not big and boastful as you come to expect an IPA, very easy on the palate, but more on the bland side of things. Definitly something I would buy by the case if I was a lawn mower in a hot part of states with a permit to drink heavily while on duty. Overall just shy of average, but steady.

I am a big IPA fan and this is my favorite beer. Yeah, there are more superior brews but for a session beer i’d consider it perfect. Smells super citrus-y, fluffy, gooey head, good lacing, a bit hazy. Very bitter, all kinds of grapefruit, refreshing, light tasting, clean.

I’m not a huge IPA fan, but this one is quite good. blankboy says it right when he notes grapefruit--this is a bitter, citrusy IPA. Doesn’t rip your eyes out like the Ruinator IPA. It’s much gentler. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange with an average size fizzy white head and some sediment. The fresh aroma of sweet malt and citrus hops is quite nice and pleasant. Taste is citrusy hops all the way -- very grapefruity -- with a touch of honey and sweet malt. But it’s mostly hops. Mostly. I found the aftertaste a little harsh, almost too citrusy. Very fresh and enjoyable IPA but avoid unless you’re a Hophead.

Aroma is grassy, piney, a little citrus, well balanced. Pour is a nice clear orange with a rocky head, at first... second half of the bottle made it much more cloudy. Taste at first was nice and bitter, very hoppy, lots of grapefruit and pine, but after the rest of the bottle was poured, the taste balanced out, with a subtle touch of sweetness.

Large col mousseux beige pâle. Forte densité des bulles. Large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de pamplemousse, d’épices et d’houblons. Long arrière goût. UPDATED: DEC 15, 2005 pours a golden amber color with a white head. aroma is forest like. taste is very much of hop. This is a great beer but it is lacking palate. nevertheless it is a beer worth drinking especially if you like IPA’s like myself.
