COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Bottle. Light aroma, light flavor, pretty nice though I mean it’s great but not as big as most IPAs I try. Perhaps I should drink more of this. YUM

Draft in Pint glass. Nice IPA with a full nose of pine, citrus, balanced with toasy malts. Appearance is a light copper with a haze. White frothy head (2" fingers) at pour and sustains 1 finger until finished. Medium sweetness heavy bitterness, hints of citrus and pine. Medium body with a oily texture. Medium carbonation with long astringent, bitter finish.

Bottle pours a lightly hazed golden with a white head. Aroma is lots of fruity/piney hops. Flavor is citrusy hops with a bit of caramel malt.

this is a good beer, large grapefruit hop aroma with some pine to boot. Medium gold, some haze, great lacing from an off-white head. The flavor follows the nose, grapefruit and some malt backing but not all that much, medium body, with a very bitter, dry aftertastes. I like it

Bottle. Rather light colored pour for an american IPA, golden with white head. Relatively light aroma for the style, nice citrusy hops, some pine and fresh cookie dough. Taste is an excellent bitter-sweet-bitter balance that pricks the tongue but doesn’t burn. Palate is lively carbonated and enjoyable. A very good IPA.

bottle - Pours hazy orange with a one finger white head. It smells of hops with light notes of citrus and a suggestion of caramel malt. The flavor is of course quite bitter. There’s a little citrus there but it’s more subdued than an IPA made with Cascade. There’s also a hint of pine. It’s medium bodied and has a lingering bitter finish that’s perhaps not as crisp as I’d like. Overall it’s quite good but not great.

Bottle from SuIIy, thanks! Pours a very pretty orange golden color, though not great clarity. The white head dissipated rather quickly. Not huge on aroma here, some dried citrus and a hint of malt. Medium carbonation, nice strong bitterness puckers the mouth enjoyably throughout. I get loads of dried and fresh citrus (particularly orange), a little malt and perfect finish balanced by sharp bitterness. Quite a well made beer.
