Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Pours a slightly cloudy deep orange/golden color with a two finger off white head that leaves great lace on the way down. Smells of grapefruit, caramel, pine, yum. Tastes of caramel, pine and resin. Lingering pine bitterness in the finish. Medium body, crisp carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Great refreshing brew for sure. Another great brew from Smuttynose.

12 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Nose brings out loads of citrus hops, some resin, some pine, and a little biscuity malt in back. Flavour is very citrusy and grassy in the hop department, with a fairly strong astringency on the finish. Turns more grassy and herbal towards the end of the palate. Clean and refreshing. Nice IPA.

355ml brown bottle. Yellow pour with haze. Small but sturdy white cap. Nose is floral and citrusy. Bit of sweet malts and biscuit, floral notes, citrus and pine. Later bitterness and a long hoppy aftertaste, pine/resin and citrus. Lots of carbonation. Really nice everyday drinking IPA.

Poor looking, light and with no head. Nevertheless, the taste is much better : pine, resinous touch, lemon zest and orange feel, even some clorophile in the finish. The overall is tasty, refreshing and dry. Nice beer, and very easy to drink.

Aroma is of pine, mild grapefruit and maybe apple. Burnt orange body with a hint of gold with a slight haze. The head starts of fluffy and about an inch thick and reluctantly fades. Bitterness is up front with malt character following it up. Faint caramel sweetness.

Bottle, labelled as "Finest Kind". Medium orange, clear, lasting cream coloured head. Bright citrus and pine hop profile; malts provide just the right amount of sweetness. Long bitter finish. Solid IPA.
