3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KornDogg (452) - Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2010
On Tap at Annie Bailey’s. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Golden body with thin head. Flavor is filled with citrus(grapefruit) and hop bitterness. Very dry and bitter finish, a little too much for my taste
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MrChopin (2065) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 3, 2010
Ugly beer, lots of suspended floaties in the transparent honey body, thin white head that dissipates to a wispy ring. Nose mainly of watery grapefruit, light tea and pine lingering. Flavor is singularly grapefruit, very salty with some soap. A little too sticky as well, but the finish is thankfully long. Not very impressive in any category and rather bland by general count.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Teege (375) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 25, 2010
Draft at redlight redlight. Pours fairly gold for an ipa. bright with white lace. very hoppy aroma. very piny and citrusy. bold bitter flavor. quite nice. very dry. almost nothing but hops, but i’m not complaining.

12oz bottle, amber-orange color, with a white head, mild piney, cedary, fruity, peachy floral hop nose, with some resinous, light conifous bark tree accents, and soft toasted, caramelized malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasty, caramel malt, flowery hop peacy, zesty, citrus character of grapefruit, lemon peel, with a nice piney, resiny, coniferous flavor, with a hint of leafy mintiness, leading towards a hop resiny, cedary, bitterness finish.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Pawola22 (1993) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2010
12oz bottle from The Corner Room in State College, PA. Pours a clear orange color until the last bit of beer is poured, giving this a hazy, particle filled burnt orange body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is citrus pines and other fruits with a light caramel sweetness. Bigger grapefruits with some apricots and melons along with a bit of a honey bread. Flavor is very nice. Lots of hops. Big time grapefruit pines with plenty of floral fruits, grassy, and a light earth. A solid crystal sweetness with some caramels and a touch of grainy bread balance very nicely. Finishes dry and crisp with a resiny and assertive, but not over the top bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste after a light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, a great IPA. Lots of hop bitterness and a nice mixture of fruits and balancing malts. Very enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrBeerFanatic (502) - jamestown, New York, USA - MAR 20, 2010
12 oz from a variety pack wegmans. Unfiltered dark tinged orange/ darker yellow. Aromas of fruity hops(orange, grapefruit, apricot), little caramel that pokes through from the big hoppyness. Aromas carry quite effectively to the flavors to bring out just about all that the nose can detect. Slightly oily, bitter, slightly sweet. Just from this beer I’m glad I purchased this variety pack.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 williamherbert (1041) - Syracuse, New York, USA - MAR 18, 2010
I didn’t look hard enough to realize that this beer was unfiltered, so imagine my surprise at seeing a whole heap of confetti-like sediment flowing into the glass. Oh well, the show must go on...although I think the two men laughing on the bottle’s label are laughing at me. I really should have known better.
Sediment aside, it has a nice, cloudy peach-colored hue. It’s got a fine cheek. Reminds me of a lava lamp in its current incarnation. (My "appearance" rating is assuming I had poured it correctly instead of like an idiot.)
Mild, hoppy aroma. Very nice.
A very smooth taste with an unexpected hoppy punch to the uvula. Delicious. Kind of a sweet hoppy flavor. Those hops don’t kick in until after you swallow. And by God, then it’s just too late! Seems to have a fruity flavor but that might be just because hops taste like grapefruit.
This is going down so easy. Has a sweet flavor. I think I want to make love to it all night. Powerful hop aftertaste, but smooth as silk, baby. Even the massive belch I just had was delicious.
Because of the strong hops, I might have to alternate between this and another beer throughout the night, but this one is a winner. Smutty knows how to do it right, kids. Solid IPA, and reasonably priced, to boot.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DavidHawman (24) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 12, 2010
Pours a golden yellow with floating particulates and a fluffy head. Aroma is very hoppy with the citrusy American hops showing. Flavor is definitely dominated by the citrusy American hops with a buttery but not heavy mouthfeel. Overall a good beer that showcases the citrus character of the chosen American hops.
