COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Golden appearance with a white head. Aroma is hoppy, a little grassy. Flavor is hoppy but not overly so. Not a strong malt presence in the finish, relatively acidic, but not unpleasant. Well balanced overall, good with a meal especially spicy food.

"Soapy citrus and dry biscuit aromas with a solid overall hoppy fruitiness. Hazy orange/copper body, lasting white head and blanketing lace. Dry, sticky and pleasantly bitter. Grapefruit, evergreen, grass, biscuits and honey. Very solid IPA, good to see Smuttynose make their way into my neighborhood."

12oz bottle. Gorgeous in the glass due to great lacing that leads to a nice mouthfeel. Has a barnyard, hay taste that leads to fresh grapefruit hops. Bright and nice, especially distinct for earth in it.
