COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Bottle courtesy of drowland. Clear orange color with bubbly head. Sweet hops with earthy floral tones. Flavors of dry hops, bitter tea hops and pine sap come through. Not too dry of a finish, but it’s dry enough. Fairly good.

bottle, although the beer is actually quite decent, this is too much for me. extremely bitter, bitter aroma, bitter taste and bitter finish. i have enough bitterness, i don’t need some extra.. ;-)

A dam fine IPA, and this is coming from an anti-hophead. Taste is of orange, pine and hops with a quick, crisp bite of a finish.

Bottled sample from Whole Foods in Tampa. Fantastic IPA> Nice crisp finish. Great carbonation. Will try this again.

Nice appearance. Caramel with a small frothy head. Aroma is caramelized sugar (not caramel) and piney hops. Flavor is all right. Much like the aroma, but not very interesting. Finishes with an all right body. Okay beer, but not fantastic.

Bottle at de-boned chicken tasting. Love the label! Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Very bitter. Hoppy aromas of spruce with hints of grape fruit and tiny hints of bog myrtle. Also hints of plant sap and earth notes. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied. Long bitter finish.

Pours deep orange haze with a medium to thin head. Aroma of hops, citrus, with malty bouquet. Has a roasty bitter taste up front. Creamy full body. Low carbonation, though the beer is lively. The bitters grow on the back end. Linger a bit. A tasty IPA, but is lacking that something special.
