COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Bottled, 355ml as Finestkind IPA from Beermerchants of Kent. Orange gold with white head. This had quite a floral nose and character to it, rose ips came to mind, with dashes of resin and citrus. The flavours were a little understated really, there was also a hint of caramel. I wanted to love it, but it left me a bit underwhelmed, okay though.

Can@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Medium/light, slightly tart and sweet aroma with citrus and fruits. Deeper golden color with minimal white head and hazy liquid. Medium taste with slightly bitter, over aged fruits and some citrus and grass. Bitterness and sweetness are nicely in balance, likewise other nuances. Hops and some malts can be detected. medium taste spectrum and medium aftertaste with hops and malts. Medium/light body with light/medium carbonation. Overall, organic and refreshing product that could be somewhat more complex.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Hazy amber in colour with a frothy head. Has a strength, but its dry fruitiness is flavoursome and slightly herbal. Seems a little understated in its ingredients but is easy enough to drink for its volume. Drank as ’Finestkind IPA’

And yet another orange pour with an off white which leaves some suds clinging to my glass. Typical aromas and flavors for a plain old IPA. Thankfully, someone invented the double and Imperial IPA. They made the world a better place!

On tap @ Birratrovo, Como. Pours amber, cream head. Nice soft fruity caramel aroma and taste with neat hearbaceous bitternes, not invasive nor persistent.

Clear orange beer, creamy yellow to off-white head, pretty stble, little adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, passion fruits, mango, pineapple, bit of honey, sweet and fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty soapy start, lots of citrus, sweet malts, bitter hops, some yeast. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, bit malty, sugary touch, some honey, exotic fruits, pineapple, resinous finish. Lovely beer!

Shared 12 oz. can labeled Finest Kind IPA, poured to snifters showing a hazed, light orangey gold color, with a modest, soft white layer of head foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was lightly dank, with some mineral/well water hints, and light citrus as orange on the back. A bit less than medium bodied, with average carbonation, the taste was similar less the mineral hints, and added a modest, citrus & rind-like bitterness. Average IPA faire.
