COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

From notes. 12oz bottle from Old Chicago poured into a shaker. Pours a light orange almost dark amber. Small bit of white head. Aroma is solid hops. Strong floral notes. Taste is medium bitter. It has a medium body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this beer is damn good. It tastes like hops and that is what I want my IPA to taste like. Will definitly find a 6pack of this stuff to buy before I leave town.

Slightly hazy amber gold with a nice bright white ehad and decent lace. Flavors and aroma dominated by citrusy hops, with a nice rich malt backbone. Medium body, moderate carbonation and a clean crisp finish.

One of the better IPAs out there, very bitter and dry, lots of hops, long lingering aftertaste makes for a potent concoction, well worth trying.

On tap downtown at some beer I can’t remember. Pretty quality and refreshing IPA. Good hop front nose and palate, nice and bitter with a quick clean finish and refreshing. Doesn’t look like much, but I found it tasty.

12oz bottle pours a hazy golden/orange with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is well rounded and sweet finishing with a non-offensive bready malty bitterness. This is a really nice IPA!

From r and h as finest kind ipa. Pours a nice golden hue. Moderate head. Strong pine and resin aroma and similar astringent taste. Ok but a bit harsh.

Solid, drinkable IPA but not terribly exciting. Caramel malt flavor with a good dose of grapefruit and pine hops. Solid sudsy feel. Golden orange color with a nice head.

Poured a perfect hazy orange with a bit of sediment. Aroma was sweet of grapefruit and full of hop spicy bitterness. The flavor was an explosion of hops, which was full yet subtle. Quickly the malt backbone soothes the palate with oranges and sweet caramel. VERY nice balance and perfect amount of hop intensity. Leaves the mouth bitter, dry and a tad spicy - very nice!
