Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Draught. Pours clear orange with a small off-white head. Hoppy aroma with lemon, grape and some tropical fruit. Malt/caramel aromas are present as well. Moderately sweet and heavy bitterness and a long bitter finish. Good stuff!

Poured from a bottle. Hazy golden straw. Lacy foam head. Big fruity citrus bouquet. Crisp with an initial tart hoppy grapefruit. Finishes smooth and sweet. Yum.

355ml bottle. Pours orange golden with one finger of fine textured off white head. Aroma is sweet malts, light sweet and tropical fruits, some spice, hops, faint alcoholic note. Taste is similar with a strong bitter resinous hoppy finish. Excellent drinkability, medium carbonation, medium body. Very good IPA.

A great ipa , has that sherbet aroma, with pineapple and mango, enough malt to give a decent colour, perfect carbonation. Docked 1 taste point,as I would a slightly less well balanced, more aggressively hoppy finish .

In bottiglia. Colore dorato schiuma fine e abb persistente. Aroma agrumato, lime, erba appena tagliata, leggero caramello. Al palato corpo abbastanza leggero, alcool non percettibile. sentori di frutta esotica non molto intensi, leggero citrico, secchezza finale.

Really enjoyed this one! Fuzzy honey pour with a tightly packed ivory crown. Spicy, floral, evergreen and citrus aroma. Lots of depth and complexity here. Not the enamel peeling IPA from the west coast but enjoy the subtle nuances and balance. A go-to for sure!

Pours a clear copper. Aroma was fruity and piney. Taste of some bitter grapefruit, pine, and a sweet backbone. Prety standard IPA, nothing special. Drinkable.

Clear golden, light white head. Terrifically spruce-y, juniper-y, some deeper citrus notes. Very bitter, only the slightest sweetness. Long lingering, aftertaste. Quite oily, medium body. Quite acidic. Pretty interesting.
