COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

26/XII/15 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle as "Finest Kind IPA" @ Tim’s 1st Second Christmas Day Tasting - BB: II/4/16 (2015-1809) Thanks to Tim DB for picking this one up for me in NYC!

Clear orange beer, creamy yellow to off-white head, pretty stble, little adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, passion fruits, mango, pineapple, bit of honey, sweet and fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty soapy start, lots of citrus, sweet malts, bitter hops, some yeast. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, bit malty, sugary touch, some honey, exotic fruits, pineapple, resinous finish. Lovely beer!

Shared 12 oz. can labeled Finest Kind IPA, poured to snifters showing a hazed, light orangey gold color, with a modest, soft white layer of head foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was lightly dank, with some mineral/well water hints, and light citrus as orange on the back. A bit less than medium bodied, with average carbonation, the taste was similar less the mineral hints, and added a modest, citrus & rind-like bitterness. Average IPA faire.

Drank as Smuttynose Finestkind IPA, this is one good brew in the style. Hazy orange pour with a tight frothy lasting head. Nice floral and fruit aroma although not real prominent. Taste is well-balanced with notes of fruit and floral with just a minor hop bite. Finestkind is all that!

Thank you tderoeck! 355 ml. bottle sampled as “Finestkind IPA” @ “Tim’s Christmas Tasting”. BBF 02/2016. Hazy golden, little white head. Nose is oily grapefruit peel, peach, resin, oily sweetish, mineral qualities dominating a bit. Taste is heavy oil, mineral, oily caramel, mellowed grapefruit, older grapefruit,;.. Touch watery hop oil body. Feels a bit old, faded but still pretty decent.
