COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rye ale aged in Sazarec rye whiskey, Buffalo Trace bourbon, and Four Roses bourbon barrels, brewed exclusively for Julio’s Liquors in Westboro. This beer was on sale on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at their 8th Annual Spring Beer Fest.

Courtesy of ohlrangers. Murky brown, no head. Nice balance of bourbon, vanilla, light spice in the background, guess it’s the rye. Flavor much the same, with light sour twinge in finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Nice overall.

Hey now buttery bourbon! Tons of butter, bourbon, caramel, vanilla, and a spiciness. Taste is slightly spicy, bourbon, butter, vanilla, and caramel. Finish is sweet, cloying, and butter. Ugh.

Nice brew - god mix of rye flavors, mixed with caramel and molasses - in fact it may drift a little towards being too sweet. Some boozy notes as it warms. Enjoyable beer. Sampled at 2010 pre-Brewer’s Jam tasting.

Bottle at a tasting at Paul’s place. Pours a hazed ruby brown with a thin beige head. Spicy rye and caramel, with a light amount of alcohol present. Bourbon, spicy rye, more bourbon fueled vanilla. Malty, thick and delicious. Sweet and malty finish. Nice stuff.

2010 pre-Brewer’s Jam tasting. Pours red-orange with beige head. Aroma is very sweet with some hints of char and honey, maybe some sage. Flavor is also very sweet with maple and caramel, little bit of spice, distant vegetal hint. I can detect some spice in the finish and aftertaste. Ok, but too sweet.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Ruby in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of orchard fruit, bourbon barrel, dark caramel, and booze. Heavy on the booze and barrel in the mouth, but with some nice spicy rye and caramel notes coming through in the background. Somewhat of a slick mouthfeel. Seems way boozier and heavier than it actually is. Some good elements here, but a bit too out of balance to really come together.

Bottle, huge thanks to Skyview. Hazy reddish brown pour, with thin, dissipating white head. Aroma has big bourbon, whiskey, rye and a touch of booze. Taste up front is sweet bourbon and vanilla, leading into the rye whiskey and spice, with a slightly sweet and boozy finish. Very complex and good beer.

Bottle… Clear, dark ruby ale with a small, fizzy, lightly tanned head. Decent retention. The aroma furnishes a boatload of caramelized brown sugar alongside lesser notes of bourbon, oak, rye whiskey and spicy grains. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The sweet flavor offers caramel and rye whiskey tempered by modest bitterness. Rich, buttery toffee finish. Thanks to growler for sharing this whiskey-loaded, malty beer!

(22oz bottle thanks to Exiled) rich orange-brown with lasting film of tan bubbles. Nose of rye, brown sugar, mild bourbon. Taste of bourbon, rye, brown sugar, alcohol, mild oxidation, creamy body and warming alcohol.
