Thanks to Skyview. Bourbon aroma. Fresh, almost green vanilla. The flavor is very rich dominated by bourbon. Silky vanilla finish

Dog Days of Summer Gathering, thanks growler.
copper,t an.
aroma, woot woot, bourbon goodness, loads of caramel, malty, rye and butterscotch/vanilla and oak wood.
flavors, caramel malts, barrel is definitely more present here than anticipated in the nose, rye is mild adding just enough thickness to the palate and mild spices.
A nice beer, good use of the Buffalo Trace that at times seems to overtake most of the other elements of this beer.

Huge thanks to daknole! Bottle pours murky amber brown with a khaki head. Sweet bourbon soaked caramel, rye bread, vanilla, raisins, oak, and brown sugar all rounded out with some earthy hops. Overall body is moderate to full, moderately sweet and finishes lightly bitter. I think i’m in love....

Bomber thanks to Doodler poured a lightly hazy dark reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, rye, carmel, light cherry and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, bourbon, oak, cherry, carmel, light vanilla and a hint of spice with a smooth dry lingering carmely bourbon finish.

Bomber. The pour yields a clear, deep and dark crimson to cherrywood colored body. A small, creamy, steadfast head of khaki colored foam gives dense, pronounced sheets of lacing that cling hard to the glass. The nose, while admittedly a bit boozy, shows mouth watering notes of caramel, toasted toffee, dates, and bright cherries. Vanilla is pervasive throughout, offering a woody, spicy element that seems plays nicely with the caraway seed and crusty rye bread notes. Flavors are just as nicely constructed. Toasted toffee and caramel are rich and decadent, but not overly sugary, seemingly lightened by charred, spicy oak and soft, semi-dry cherry elements. The yeast profile seems very bready, hinting at both rye and pumpernickel. Medium-full in body, with soft yet persistent carbonation and a pleasing, semi-dry finish, the palate manages to satisfy from a weight standpoint while avoiding any annoying stickiness. Being a huge fan of Sazerac Rye, Buffalo Trace, and Smuttynose, I was salivating at the thought of this brew. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. Excellent beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber body with a small wispy beige head. Nice earthy and spicy rye nose with some complementary hops over a slightly sweet caramel and bourbon base. The flavor is very spicy with a hefty bourbon laced finish bringing on some vanilla and alcohol. I don’t especially dig the barrel character of this one, seems to be a bit overdone. Mouthfeel is fizzy and lively, helping cut the heavy body a little bit. Not bad, but a touch too boozy and alcoholic.

Bourbon and rye come through big in the nose: vanilla, light vegetal. I am less enamored of the flavor. Almost too much rye (I can’t believe I just typed that!) and has a slightly sour note in the finish. I would probably prefer a little more sweetness to hang all that barrel-aged character on.

Red brown color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, rye malt, caramel malts, nuts, and alcohol. Taste of nuts, rye, burnt malts, vanilla, and bourbony alcohol in the finish.

tasting on 7/30/10. deep red pour with a 1/4" white head. light bourbon nose with dark fruit notes. medium to big body with sweet malts and dark fruit. some dark cherry coming through the most. more of the same on the finish. overall a tasty beer, but the barrels didn’t shine enough for me.
