(22oz bomber acquired in a trade). Pours a hazy dark ruby/mahogany colorw ith thin tan head. Some nice, active carbonation. Aroma has some whiskey, green apple, ripe fruits, and some bourbon. Damn! This is a really tasty beer! Taste is sweet from the malts and the barrels. Again, the green apple and fruits and very visible which I didn’t think would be the case. Of course, there is the mix of rye whiskey and bourbon, but I think they work well together. The beer is fairly thin-bodied but the flavors have come together in a great way. This far surpassed my expectations.

Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt! A: The beer appears slightly hazy and is chestnut brown in color. Atop the beer sits a half inch of head that leaves a decent amount of sticky lacing on the glass. S: The aroma is an enticing mix of bourbon, rye, vanilla, malt, oak barrels. T: What a fabulous beer! I was completely taken by surprise. Everything found in the aroma shines through in a masterfully crafted beer with balance, subtlety and complexity. M: Medium bodied and packed with flavor throughout. Alcohol presence is there, but I wouldn’t describe the beer as hot. D: Very drinkable. I would really like to have this again. Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours a murky chestnut brown with a finger of beige head. Aroma is some bourbon a bit of rye and maybe just a touch of vanilla. Taste follows the nose. Good beer.

22oz Bottle shared at RIFT meeting. Big bourbony nose over some spicy rich grain. God this is good. A solid show of barrel over nice rich, spicy, malty complex grain base. Clean, bright and fresh. I love the barrel character and integration. The barrels and the booze balance the sweetness nicely for a refined, complex sipper. Excellent.

A: Pours a nice rich brown with mild amber tones. Very tall off white almost tan head. Insane retention and nice chunky lace. S: Lots and lots of barrel goodness. Oak, vanilla and coconut rule here. More subtle notes of candy malts as well. T: Really nice brew. Malt sweetness in a big way. Loads of toffee and caramel. The barrel really stands out. Vanilla first with fresh cut oak second. Mild coconut notes and nice bourbon notes. Subtle hints of spicy rye with a hint of chocolate. M: On the fuller side of medium, nice carbonation, a real smooth drinking brew.

Pretty excited for this; picked up a bottle at Julio’s (obviously). Pours a dark mahogany brown with reddish tints and a 1 finger dark ivory colored head that perks up absolutely beautifully. Aroma is very nice; lots of sweet vanilla and black cherry, lactic sugars, bourbon, wood, along with really excellent herbal notes of rye and dill. Flavor is marvelous-- more fantastic bourbon barrel notes with wood, smoke, and sweet vanilla, and more of that rye and dill. The booze comes through near the finish and contributes the perfect amount of sharpness on the tongue, but it fades to a beautifully smooth finish. The mouthfeel on the whole is fairly full bodied, with a really nice balance between the sweet aged malt characteristics and the unique herbal notes. Excellent brew.

Pours two-finger light tan head that fades slowly and leaving a good lace. Hazy amber color, hints of yeast. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Bourbon nose, and strong bourbon flavor, just hints of rye. One could imagine a lot higher ABV than 7.7%. $8.99 for a 22 oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.
