Bottle from jredmond. Pours dark coppery brown with a fizzy, transient beige head. Smells like rye barley wine from very nice bourbon barrels. Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is moderately dark fruit, brown sugar/treacle. Not at all towards dry, with no bitter. But the heat doesn’st show much and the flavors are outstandingly impressive. Age has not dulled its style.

Bomber. Pours a redish brown color with a big foamy off white head. Head remains about 1 finger tall throughout the session, amazing retention. Loads of bubbles stream upwards. Lacing is thickly coated on the glass. Nose is heavy vanilla, bourbon and oak notes. A nice herb noted is present as well. Palate is full, thick, chewy with a light tongue tingle, feels clean but a light coating is present. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, light caramel and dill pickles, def feels like I just ate a pickle, and not in a bad way.

This beer is so perfectly crafted. There is a huge smoky, roasty nose with a wide range of earthy barrel notes. The body pours a burnt ruby color with a creamy tan head, lots of lacing. On first sip the body feels light and active, with lots of barrel-esque tingly notes dancing on my tongue. The whiskey is as lively in the palate as it is in the flavor, but never overwhelms. The flavors are good strong chewy malts, tobacco, whiskey, and maybe some field greens (chard/kale). The flavors only get more aggressive and complex as the beer warms up, with the barrel notes getting a slight sour bite (I’m thinking more sourdough sour, not bret). I am just blown away by this beer. Cheers Smuttynose and Cheers Julios.

Bomber thanks to Doodler poured a lightly hazy dark reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, rye, carmel, light cherry and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, bourbon, oak, cherry, carmel, light vanilla and a hint of spice with a smooth dry lingering carmely bourbon finish.

(22oz bomber acquired in a trade). Pours a hazy dark ruby/mahogany colorw ith thin tan head. Some nice, active carbonation. Aroma has some whiskey, green apple, ripe fruits, and some bourbon. Damn! This is a really tasty beer! Taste is sweet from the malts and the barrels. Again, the green apple and fruits and very visible which I didn’t think would be the case. Of course, there is the mix of rye whiskey and bourbon, but I think they work well together. The beer is fairly thin-bodied but the flavors have come together in a great way. This far surpassed my expectations.

Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt! A: The beer appears slightly hazy and is chestnut brown in color. Atop the beer sits a half inch of head that leaves a decent amount of sticky lacing on the glass. S: The aroma is an enticing mix of bourbon, rye, vanilla, malt, oak barrels. T: What a fabulous beer! I was completely taken by surprise. Everything found in the aroma shines through in a masterfully crafted beer with balance, subtlety and complexity. M: Medium bodied and packed with flavor throughout. Alcohol presence is there, but I wouldn’t describe the beer as hot. D: Very drinkable. I would really like to have this again. 22oz Bottle shared at RIFT meeting. Big bourbony nose over some spicy rich grain. God this is good. A solid show of barrel over nice rich, spicy, malty complex grain base. Clean, bright and fresh. I love the barrel character and integration. The barrels and the booze balance the sweetness nicely for a refined, complex sipper. Excellent.

Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours a murky chestnut brown with a finger of beige head. Aroma is some bourbon a bit of rye and maybe just a touch of vanilla. Taste follows the nose. Good beer.
