COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maibocks are a traditional Teutonic seasonal specialty. We brew ours to be hugely malty and subtly finished with a variety of continental hops, with an eye-pleasing russet brown color.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color is a hazy orange/gold with about a finger and half of white foamy head and some nice lacing. The smell is hoppy with some earthy flavor. Hints of lemon and grapefruit. The taste is sweet with a nice fruity flavor coming right out at first with a bitterness that comes in later from the hops and mixes in. A really great spiciness is present as well on the way down. The feel of this beer is more on the light side and reminds me of a really good summer beer or any time. It goes down well and leaves no aftertaste.

Hello Uncle Malty! Thank GOD for the BIG BEER series, this one is a onster for a maibock, after 22oz it felt more like a doppel.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2005 2004 bomber. Pours a lightly golden, soft yellow with amber and orange hints. Bottle conditioned, with tons of white head. Aroma of lightly spicy yeast, ripe yellow fruits and plenty of grainy malt goodness (honey wheat bread with herbs and spices). Flavor has just the perfect balance of malt sweetness and mixes with a mild and soily/earthy hops profile that is just right. The yeast and hops together add a perfect balancing bitterness, this beer has a soft smooth body and is just supremely drinkable and good. These guys are great with balance (and that’s great with me). Maybe a bit too much sugary sweetness, to be constructive and it could stand a bit more yeast influence.

Big powerful bockbier here. Beautiful copperish brown color to this lager and big malt nose give this beer a uniqueness in our IPA-centric world. Smuttynose makes another winner, that f’n simple.

Smells fresh with a certain toasted spicy scent to it. The main smell is fruity, I think it is banana but not sure. Pours a nice red/orange brown with good off white head that leaves lacing, the head is very frothy and yeasty. The flavor is very nice and complex yet simple. It has a sweet side complimented by slight bitterness. It also has a floral aftertaste and finishes smooth. This is one hell of a beer.

Bottle courtsey of bmartin08 and The_Epeeist, thanks guys. Pours a coppery color with a decent sized off-white to beige colored head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, honey, pear, citrus. Flavor is caramel malts, sweet pear and peach, brown sugar, some citrus notes. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, on the sweet side with a crisp, spicy, sorta saison like finish. Great!

Pours a golden color with some amber hues, nice frothy generous head, great lacing. The aroma was honey, earthen and grassy hops, rich bready malts. The flavor was excellent bready malts, light honey, some grass, a nice spiciness along with carbonated zing. The malts had a grapey-ness to go along with the bready richness, and this was a very fine example of the style, top notch. Mouthfeel was full, rich, yet balanced, very clean feeling. At-a-boys, Smutty!!!

Pours a dark gold with a big off-white head that sticks around well. Doughy malt, herbal notes, banana, light floral hops on the nose. Toasty but not burnt malt taste up front, grassy and floral hops bring up the rear. Yeasty banana-like notes. A bit of spice and booze. Medium bodied, good amount of carbonation. Alcohol is at times distracting but evens out into a nice balance the longer it stays in the glass.
