More straight up pale ale then either an American Brown or the more lush British brown -- like a rounder maltier Sierra. Delicious well balanced granola malts with an equally big measure of hops with some hints of pine and parsley.

Very nice brown/garnet color with off white lasting head. Very malty aroma and their is a noticable nutty spectrum of flavor, not sweet and not sour, as some browns have been in my experience.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2003 On-tap at the Noho Brewery. (I didn't realize they were Partners). Nice deep brown color, very flavorful malts throughout, and the finish is especially sweet an malty. Nice going. RE-RATE: (Bottled): Much better in the bottle than on tap. The deep-roasted malts seemed to come through much better, and it didn't seem as watery.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light brown color with a light caramel malt aroma. Body has some strange sugary sweetness to it and a more eathy robust finish. Good milk chocolate notes. An interesting and decent brown ale.

OK beer. Malty sweet, yet balanced with a good dose of hops. Good Autum beer.

Pours a rich amber color with a mild to moderate 1-2 cm head. Aroma is sweet like cocoa. The taste is just like the aroma--slightly chocolaty and rather sweet--almost too sweet. Very low carbonation, which is rather typical of a brown ale. I think this is a pretty enjoyable beer, but might be slightly too sweet. 6 oz sample (shared half with my brother)

Beautiful brown beer. Quickly dissipating head, predominant cocoa aroma. Definate maltiness and chocolate flavors, some smokiness, but sweetness rules this brew. Very smooth, ever so slight hint of hops in the finish. I like this beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reddish brown ale with a small head. Malty and sweet, but with some of the sourness of a British brown and some of the nutty taste of an American brown nicely combined.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brown color. Medium head. Aroma is nutty, fruity and sweet. Medium bodied brown ale. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are spicy and slightly bitter. A very nutty brown ale. The nuttiness and sweetness of the malts is almost overpowering. Smooth taste. Very nice, but a bit too sweet. Still very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and nutty.
