3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours borwn like syrup. The brown is a given. The head has a good lacing which looks typical of the Smutty Nose beers. The aroma is very malty with chocolate and dark fruits. The taste was very sweet, buit a bit too sugery for my taste. This was fine though and good for a session beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cherry brown pour supporting a nice beige head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, malt & spices (cinnamon?) but not in a "Holiday Ale" sort of way. Nice and well balanced flavors of light toffee, chocolate, and a little coffee riding a rounded sweet malt backbone with some hop bitterness creeping in at the back of the tongue. Finish was very satisfying, medium-long, sweet and clean. This is a nice Brown Ale which goes down smoothly and leaves you wanting another right away.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours brown with a light brown generous head that sticks around. Taste is malty with fruit and cherries present. An excellent example from an excellent brewer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A nice amber brown ale with a full aroma of spices. The taste has a maltiness that is pleasing. The hoppiness comes through on the back of the palate. A really good beer for hanging with friends.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Comes ina 12 oz brown long neck.
Very nice ale to look at chesnut brown with a gorgeous tan head..that recedes to leave large splotches of lace.
Very nice milk chocolate malty aroma to this one
Very very tasty and well balanced beer..hints of clotted cream, cocoa, milk chocolate, residual sweetness of raspberrys, small hop kick at the end, long lingering chocolatyness.
Wonderfully creamy and smooth on the palate..great stuff.
Exceptionally drinkable , a remarkable brown ale.
Another excellent choice from Jah Noth

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Decent brown ale that mixes some hoppiness with some sweetness. Perhaps a little too fizzy at points near the end. A good solid ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Good aroma. Piney hops, malty and a touch of caramel. Good, balanced flavor. Some bitter hoppiness balanced out with the malty sweetness. Throw in some hazelnut, brown sugar and chocolate, and it’s pretty good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2005 Not a bad brew, but everything about it is mild - the soft malty aroma, the sweet caramel & coffee taste, the gently bitter finish. Good looking reddish-brown color. This would be a good session ale or a nice with a meal.
