3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2003 On-tap at the Noho Brewery. (I didn't realize they were Partners). Nice deep brown color, very flavorful malts throughout, and the finish is especially sweet an malty. Nice going. RE-RATE: (Bottled): Much better in the bottle than on tap. The deep-roasted malts seemed to come through much better, and it didn't seem as watery.

Light brown color with a light caramel malt aroma. Body has some strange sugary sweetness to it and a more eathy robust finish. Good milk chocolate notes. An interesting and decent brown ale.

OK beer. Malty sweet, yet balanced with a good dose of hops. Good Autum beer.

Pours a rich amber color with a mild to moderate 1-2 cm head. Aroma is sweet like cocoa. The taste is just like the aroma--slightly chocolaty and rather sweet--almost too sweet. Very low carbonation, which is rather typical of a brown ale. I think this is a pretty enjoyable beer, but might be slightly too sweet. 6 oz sample (shared half with my brother)

Beautiful brown beer. Quickly dissipating head, predominant cocoa aroma. Definate maltiness and chocolate flavors, some smokiness, but sweetness rules this brew. Very smooth, ever so slight hint of hops in the finish. I like this beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reddish brown ale with a small head. Malty and sweet, but with some of the sourness of a British brown and some of the nutty taste of an American brown nicely combined.

Brown color. Medium head. Aroma is nutty, fruity and sweet. Medium bodied brown ale. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are spicy and slightly bitter. A very nutty brown ale. The nuttiness and sweetness of the malts is almost overpowering. Smooth taste. Very nice, but a bit too sweet. Still very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and nutty.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very hoppy aroma for a brown ale with a touch of nuts. Light brown in color and minimal head. Nice malt flavor, a bit of caramel plus roasted nuts. Tight butterscotch finish. Nice beer and a good brown.

Now this is a beer I could drink on it's own. I can smell the malt and the hops, but more importantly, I'm getting better at distictly separating the differnt aromas and flavors. At first I couldn't locate the malty flavor, but after a few minutes I came back and there it was! I'm so happy. The hoppy flavor comes to this party, but doesn't try to be the life of it. I liked this one.

This one was a good recovery beer for me after the Shoals pale ale. Good weak coffee color, thin head, nice middle of the road aroma, malt, hops, and a nuttiness. Similar flavors that are smooth and mild. Not too bitter (this is important to me) easy to drink. A good to share with conversation.
