A very different beer. Somewhat light and almost sweet. A nice change of pace, but overpriced.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Solid brown ale through and through. There’s nothing here that says "I’m the bestest ever," but the flip side, there is nothing wrong with this beer either. Solid.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A: Crystal clear copper/mahogany. Sort of pale for a brown. No visible carbonation. Half finger of quickly dissipating head. Nice lacing though.
S: Mild chocalate, caramel or is it toffee? Very slight roastiness. No discernible hop presence in the nose.
T: Immediately roasty, chocalatey and surprisingly almost no sweetness. I dislike a lot of sweetness in beer but I miss a little of it in this style. A nice subtle hop tartness on the finish compensates nicely here though.
M: Medium body with a good amount of finely beaded carbonation to tingle the tongue. Sticky finish but still pretty clean overall.
O: Another good brown ale I’ve come across lately. Comparing this to Duck Rabbit Brown and slightly favoring DR due largely to a lower ABV.
Very good overall though and well worth purchasing.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Ruby brown color. Short head.
Simply aroma: roasty and a bit fruity. Unpleasant vegetable note.
In mouth it is bitter and it has medium carbonation. Watery sensation and very plane mouthfeel.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 6/1/2015. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, chocolate, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, chocolate, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent brown ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Commercial description has it about right. That said, the 6.7% abv did a very good job of hiding as I found it very hard to detect. Hops subdued for mine whereas the toffee and malts was very obvious.

Tap at Beer Hunters.
Deep copper color, good off-white creamy head. Caramel and herbal grassyness in the nose. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Caramel, some earthy hoppyness. Some alcohol. A bit odd cellary notes.
