checkmatei1 (215), Willow Grove, USA Apr 23, 2008 Bottle: Poured a dark brown color with a nice amount of head. The aroma was malty and earthy. The flavor was smooth, slightly bitter, slightly hopped, and slightly sweet. Overall, a very smooth well balanced beer.
abcfan (132), USA Jul 16, 2008 Decent brew. Pours hazy brown with little to no head that left quickly. Sweet, malty aroma, smells of caramel and fruit. Very smooth taste with light carbonation. Easy drinker, would make nice session beer. jerico (1), , USA does not count Jul 15, 2008 I poured this from a growler - it is a nice dark brown, but leaves almost no head (and what it does leave disappears quickly). It isn’t overpoweringly strong in taste or smell - the malts are apparent, with a touch of brown sugar and raisins. Pleasant, but not extraordinary. incutrav (487), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Jul 15, 2008 Got a single bottle for a buck because it was missing the label, so it was a bit of a crapshoot as to what beer it was, but what the hey, im a risk taker. Poured dark brown, hence the beer being old brown doggy. Fairly heavy for a brown, rich and caramel-ey. Similar in taste and appearance to Bender. Good stuff, glad i took the gamble on this. Damico (28), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 I was not a huge fan ot the after taste, but it was a nice brown ale that wasn’t too heavy. Haslinger (450), Syracuse, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle from the variety pack. Of the 4 in there I felt this was the worse but it was still a solid drinker. Good brown ale definitely on par with Newcastle and other more well known browns. Would buy again if in the mood for a brown ale
