oh6gdx (8801), Vasa, Finland Sep 5, 2008 Cask@GBBF2008 (my notes said ABV 5.1%). Slightly hazy yellowish orange colour, with small white head. Nice lace. Aroma is spices, some fruits and pumpkin pie. Flavour is very much the same, more spicy than of pumpkin though. Nothing that exciting. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 Bottle. Just didn’t work for me very well. Couldn’t really detect much of an aroma, and I certainly didn’t detect any pumpkin in it. Nice lacing on the glass. Taste for me was a bit muddled, heavy, with malt and some sourness. Couldn’t really taste much pumpkin! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Smuttynose, so I think I’ll try something else from them. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2008 Orange with thin white head. Nice nutmeg pumpkin aroma carries over somwhat heavily into the taste. Dry with medium carbonation. $2/12oz Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Aug 30, 2008 I normally love all Smuttynose but this one just missed the mark. It smelled like pumpkin and spices. The taste is where it looses me. I normally like a good pumpkin ale but this tastes like you were eating dried spices - literally. It felt like I had herbs and spices in my mouth that I was chewing. maybe I had a bad one? I’’ll have to go back to this. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA Aug 22, 2008 pours cloudy, copper with a tan/white head. Aroma is pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and bubble gum. Tastes is slightly bitter, nutmeg, slight cinnamon, some bitterness from hope. Very refreshing and definently will warn you up. blipp (1631), Newark, New Jersey, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours orange with a beige head. Pumpkin pie spice aroma with nutmaeg and a bit of lemon. Flavor is spicy, with nutmeg and clove. Not bad. GangGreen712 (44), Woodstock Valley, Connecticut, USA Aug 19, 2008 Smells of cinnamon, moderately light palate, tastes of nutmeg. Slightly bitter with a nice, spicy finish. A great fall beer. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 18, 2008 Cask at GBBF 08. Clear copper, lasting beige head. Definitely a spicy aroma. Lots of dried spice, nutmeg. I guess it’s a style you like or don’t. This is ok. I mean it’s interesting and the spice never runs away with it.
