maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 20, 2006 Hazy amber body with a small tan head. Sweet heavily spiced aroma with some malty hints. Very strong nutmeg, allspice and a hint of cinnamon flavor, almost overpowering. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Sep 20, 2006 From Florian’s Market in Auburn. My first smuttynose. Slightly murky red-orange body with half inch of off-white head. Smells sweet, spicy, and like pumpkin. Tastes sweet and spicy. You can tell there is pumpkin in this one too. A small bit of hops I think, but hardly any to speak of. Medium to heavy in body. Rather delicious and a very well-crafted beer. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2006 Bottle from John (jjpm) Thanks! Orange colored pour, white head. Smell is pumpkin pie, sugars, sweet grains. Taste is similar, very smooth though. I dunno, Id drink this over alot of the other pumpkin beers. Awesome brewery though, I wish they got more hype than they do, but theres plenty of other mediocre brewers that brew shit that gets hyped that steals points away from smutty. Nice stuff. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 12, 2006 Thanks crwills for bringing a 2005 vintage, still well before expiry. The aroma was yeasty and hoppy. It was orange with good lace. Fizzy carbonation. In a word, ginger - but it worked. Nice spices and balanced sweet sour that I would like in a sauce. Dry finish. Very good craftsmanship. I will have again. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 7, 2006 I was a little dissappointed with this brew.
weak flavor, aroma, and palate. not bad - but smuttynose is such a good brand and this just falls way short.\\ Holdwine (904), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Sep 4, 2006 Nice lasting foamy head. Orangy pour. Nutmeg, cinnamon and squash. Great tasting beer. Probably shouldn’t have tried it right after mowing the lawn, but the spiciness did hit the spot. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 2, 2006 bottle. Maybe the best pumpkin ale i’ve ever had. very nice aroma. deep amber color that was thick. flavor is very well balanced with a good blend of spices. Not too overpowering. No bad aftertaste which i usually find with pumpkin ales. Good brew. Cheers! jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Aug 30, 2006 Just a little head on this glowing orange-brown beer. Smells of, you guessed it, pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. Tastes pretty spicy up front, but the pumpkin taste, while slight (and THAT is appreciated), is lacking. Kind of a dirty finish to this brew. Overall, a conservative and not bad effort at the style.
