I guess part of me just wants it to work. This one did better than most. Medium orange amber color, small head, bit of yeast sediment. Smells like pumpkin pie, with pumpkin, cinammon, cloves. Flavor matches. There is a nice malt background to hold it all together and remind you that this is in fact a beer. Not quite my thing as a stand alone though. Could be interesting poured over ice cream... Maybe next year. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Bottle pours amber, medium white spritzy head, fairly attractive lacing, with soft carbonation.   Nice strong spiced nose, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.   Also noted a pumpkin pie like aroma as well.   Tangy spices up front, fairly sharp but fades quickly.   Medium body and mouthfeel.   Finishes pretty uneventful, and without much spicing.   Yeah, finishes too quick.   Otherwise looks, smells, and tastes fairly well.   Thanks goes out to slob for the trade!

I remember it being one of the better pumpkins I have tried. Smuttynose is always good stuff. cfranz (261), Acton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2004 This beer poured very nicely, generating a nice white head. Amber ale with some slight orange. Some spices, though dominated by the pumpkin. At first I was overwhelmed by the punkin, but after the initial few sips, this beer prooved to go down smooth and exhibit other tastes: clove, roasted pumpkin seed, allspice. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 10, 2004 Thin frothy head of very fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Nice head reformation upon swirling. Nice spicy aroma of nutmeg, pumpkin, roasted grains and maybe a hint of cloves. Color is a slightly cloudy orange/amber. Flavor is a little on the weak side. Bit of spice and pumpkin. Little dry and chalky in the mouth. Finish is dry and a little bitter. Lingering nutmeg aftertaste. One of the bettter pumpkin ales I have had. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 7, 2004 Very disappointing. Smelled great and looked nice, a combination of amber and orange with a light fluffy head, but the flavor was very bitter, and not alot of pumpkin. A little strong on the aftertaste. I won;t get this one again, unless it is the only option. SpringsLicker (2042), Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2004 Medium amber with just a bit of haze under a frothy off white head.
Aroma of caramel, yeast and some faint spices.
The spices come on in the flavor and finish. Some dryness in the finish after a sweet malt start. Not bad, but I’ve had pumpkin beers with more to them than this one. Radek Kliber (3942), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2004 Aroma of coriander and other spices, true vegetable aroma, work well here.
Cloudy orange look with white rings. No compromise here , very pumpkin like . Feels real . Not bad.
