brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Mar 28, 2009 Got this brew in a mix 12 pack - not usually a big Pumpkin Ale guy but this wasn’t that bad. Pours an orangish color with a spice and pumpkin aroma... taste of pumpkin and cinnamon dominate but the pumpkin doesn’t overwhelm like some others I have had. Decent. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 19, 2009 12oz bottle thanks to a buddy of mine for the taste.... pours a mostly transparent dull apple cider brown with a thin white head...aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg.... flavors continue along that front with a nice drinkability to it although i don’t think i would want more than one. raradel (33), Greenville, South Carolina, USA Feb 15, 2009 I love pumpkin as well and this one isnt bad. Its got some good parts, the nice aroma of fresh pumpkin, the good color, the light palate, and the fresh finish. Negatives feature the lack of a bold flavor that I really was looking for and the flat head. This beer is good, and I think most will agree, but come one Smuttynose, you got me, now rope me in. Worth a try to tell your snobby friends. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Feb 4, 2009 I dig pumpkin ales from time to time and I think I could dig this particular one from time to time. This one is definitely spiced but has a little bit more of that real pumpkin than others. Sweet at first but finishes dry. Cinnamon. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 14, 2009 12 fl oz bottle. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is pumpkin sweet and quite spiced. Light bodied. Sweet vegetable, malty and solid coriander and ginger spiced flavoured. Holds mild bitterness and dry pumpkin finish. Fine brew - just not my thing. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 9, 2009 12 oz, bb Feb 09. Clear orange-copper with a lasting quarter inch of cream above. Nose is spicy nutmeg, cinnamon, leafy hop and squash. Flavor is spicy molasses, orange, grain, cinnamon, clove and tea leaf. Later some ginger and flowery hop shows up. Medium body is fairly smooth and finishes slightly dry. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 28, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of eaglefan538. Pour is orange golden hazed with a one inch off white head. Aroma of clove, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spiciness. Clean, bright, perhaps a bit much, though it is a pumpkin beer. Taste is big pumpkin, clove and black pepper. The palate is medium, grassy and drying. Decent pumpkin beer. Thanks for sending this to me Brian. Dandman629 (28), Ashburn, Virginia, USA Dec 24, 2008 I over did it on the pumpkin ales this thanksgiving season. But this is a pretty good pumpkin ale. Most beers brewed by Smuttynose are pretty good. Has the nice copper color and refreshing crisp palate. Typical pumpkin spice taste but still pretty decent.
