Pour is amber, with a small white head. Taste is of course, pumpkin spice but a little lighter than something like Buffalo bills. A bit thin, but typical for a pumpkin beer. Pretty nice balance overall.
A very good Pumpkin ale. italianjohn (403), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Pours a hazy light amber/orange with little head. Aroma was full of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, maybe a bit of nutmeg. Flavor was a bit weak in the pumpkin and thin in the body. I was expecting a bit more from the Smuttynose people. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a thick, creamy, long lasting off-white head that never went away. Nose is primarily caramel malt with an undertone of grassy hops, with just a bit of pumpkin in there, but not much. Taste is caramel malt up front with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, with caramel sweetness emerging as the carbonation pushes past, only to quickly move to a combination of grassy hops, cinnamon and nutmeg, and a definite vegetal pumpkin note. Medium body, with medium carbonation. CUJO (379), Brooklyn, New York, USA

Nose is very spice, slightly floral, some bitters. Tastes like a delicious, spicy pumpkin pie... right on. Chewing only brings out more flavor, crisp hoppiness, deep sugars, pumpkin, cinnamon, spicy. Nice.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle - Nice copper pour with a decent white head. Aroma is baking spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves. There’s a smell that alternates between Kool-whip and soap. Just a bit of pie crust. Taste is spicy and yeasty, with lots of dry, almost astringent hops on the finish. Leaves a soapy aftertaste. Way too spicy and dry for me, and the soap flavor really throws me. Not a fan. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2005 Bottle. What better way to ring in the fall season than to tailgate at a UConn football game, and enjoy a pumpkin ale. Orange and clear with a decent head. Somewhat spicy aroma, almost like pumpkin pie, but not totally. Some nutmeg and brown sugar in the nose as well. The flavor has all the aspects of pumpkin pie, but they never come together all at once. It first hits your tongue sweet with pumpkin spices and nutmeg ... like the meat of the pumpkin pie. Swirl it around a bit, and you get a subdued sweetness along with a slight nuttiness. This must be the crust. It finishes very dry and chalky. It appears they forgot to take the stems off of the pumpkins before adding them to the mix. Overall, it’s rather good
