3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at three own taproom. 10.1% 2010 vintage. Served in a snifter/tulip. Dark murky plum color. 1 finger head that faded slowly it has this brown sugar and raisin scent. Sort of a cream ale smell as well. Some spices like cinnamon. Taste is sweet and fruity up front like tropical fruits. Middle a hint of oak and bitter pine hops. Finish is astringent with some cough syrup taste and honey.

12oz bottle. Wow. This is really a stellar Old Ale. Has the richness and depth of an English Barleywine, but more caramel and malt centered, luscious brown chocolate. Fruity, sublime ale yeast notes. This is a beer I had scrolled past, I had the older version years ago. I will hold it in high regard from this point. The oak really melds everything together perfectly. A malt monster. Excellent.

Handpump @Ma che siete venuti a fŗ (Rome). Honey color with a big and persistent off-white foam. Aroma is malt, caramel, some roasted notes, vanilla, ripe fruits, alcohol. Flavour is on the sweet side, caramel, brown sugar, little bitter end, a bit unbalanced, not complex as I expected. Full body, flat. Overall nice.

12oz bottle...not one of my favorite styles, however his was quite tasty with a bittersweet malt backbone and a touch of wet dog. Nice dry finish and easy drinking for this style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had on tap at the Grog. $5 for the full pint. Pours a clear light brown, with which an off-tan head half a finger in length stood. A bit metallic. Brown sugar experienced throughout. Tastes of lingering herbal hops, followed by cracked black pepper, and sourdough.
Only half a page of text. Canít be helped.
