In craft beer, there are almost as many bad rye puns as there are bad hop puns; Smuttynose is happy to spare you from more of either. Instead, we’ll tell you about our new Big Beer, Rhye IPA. We brewed it because we like drinking hoppy American-style beers and we wanted a chance to brew with rye. The rest, as they say, is history. The result is a 7% hoppy IPA, with rye spiciness and big hop character. This beer will really get under your armor…
The image on the Rhye IPA label is a famous drawing of an Indian rhinoceros by 16th century German painter and printmaker, Albrecht Dürer. Dürer had never seen the creature before and created the drawing based on one deScription and a crudely scribbled sketch.

Nice unclear deep orange golden color with a thich off white head. Nice lacing. Nice appearance. What a lovely aroma. WoW. Smooth balanced tropical fruity, pine and grapefruit hoppy. Medium + body. Nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. Average carbonation. Perfect balanced flavor with pine, tropical fruits and grapefruit hoppy. What a lovely beer. More please!

Fantastic aroma; exotic fruits, caramel, lemon, and oranges! Very hoppy taste, full of spices, fruit, caramel, bread, and bitter herbs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska från Systembolaget. Dimmig bärnstensfärgad vätska med stort ljust skum. Doftar härligt sött av humle med en ton av kola. Smakar som man hoppas baserat på doften. Ruggigt bra!

Pours hazy light Amber with some off-white head. A strong mango and resin aroma when it's cold gives up to caramel, pine and hints of alcohol when warmed. Full bodied with a nice bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a soft and hazy amber gold with two fingers of sandy tan head. Nose is dense with rye and bread and resinous hops. I don’t like rye. Very resinous and heavy character in the nose and flavor. Herbal and slightly oxidized. Medium full bodied with some burnt sugar and crystal malts.

Pale creamy golden, white bright contrasting head with a decent ring. Sweaty rich malt, nice peppery lemon nose. Initial taste is lean, crispy mapley malt sweetness with a citrus drop or two. Carbonation is firm, mouthfeel is clean. Finishes clean, spicy grapefruit linger. Decent enough but not smashably hoppy.
