Our Rhye IPA bulls its way into our lineup because we love really hoppy beers and were looking for an opportunity to play with rye malt and add a boatload of hops. Would rhino enjoy the big flavor? We don’t know, but let us know if you find out.

Bottle BEST BY 08/02/15. Nose is brilliantly hoppy, normal citrus in the background, stronger pine and wood, but this time sweeter and starting to lean very tropical; caramel and rye also strong, lightly spicy dough, but it’s sweet and fruity first. Pours hazy orange with a bit of amber, rocky thick head is leaning tan-orange, as well! Taste semi-sweet, medium body quite smooth, refreshing and lively, citrus is spritely, rye backed off, alcohol heavy and prominent but not a singe to be seen, and there’s this love overtone of stretched caramel taffy, really in the best possible downashore way. Touch rasiny in the bg, and a lot of effect drawn from the wood and lightly musty herbal character. What a wonderful partneship of hops and malts, this is great fresh.

Thanks... was it Matija? Anyway, murky amber body. Malty, sweet aroma, light apples? honey... wha? Creamy taste, slightly herbal, pleasant bitterness, but more malty than hoppy. Yeah, past its prime too, but OK enough in a way.

Quick stop at sags head for smutty pretty unnecessary really. Hazy brownish orange pour. Nos is resin and oranges. Tastes of rye, orange, caramel, floral hops, pineapple, malt, some spice. Bitter finish.

Best by date of 08/08/15. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt golden orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sliding into the beer. The smell had a sweet rye malt with a light citrus aspect backing it up nicely. The taste took the sweet and let in a light spice in the balance and still let in a delicate citrus. All blended well into the aftertaste and left a quick semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely, this one had a nice bitterness rolling across my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA with a nice rye spice to tie things up. I’d have again.

12oz into a pint, pours a carmalized orange cherry hue. Medium white head, rises to an inch or so, then dissapates to a thin ring round the glass. Aroma of orange rind, grassy hops, spicy rye notes, pine sapplings, and grapefruit. Taste of diet orange hop soda with a twist of rye. Grass, melon, orange laced sugar cubes, followed by a bitter subculture of benevolent malts and the thick rye. Hoppy after finish, orange left lingering, rye left a calling card. A very solid offering on the style from smuttynose.

Cloudy coppery orange, with a small, loose head. Smells citrusy, with some caramel, toasty notes. Taste is sweet up front, with caramel and toffee notes, and a crisp, very dry finish.

22 oz bottle. Bottled on 2013. Courtesy of Timo A. Clear deep golden colour with a small off-white head. Sweet hops, sweet malt, dryness, malt and metal notes in the aroma. The flavour is sweetness, lactic acidic notes, moderate bitterness, hops and malt. Seems to be a bit unfresh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. can purchased at Beer Store, Nashua. Cloudy orange color with thin lasting head. Aroma shows light fruit, mild rye and toasted grain.

The flavor has a toasted grain and rye malt base. Pretty decent balance of spicy rye and bittering Hops with a substantial amount of malt and grain. Bitterness is lingering well after the sip without having any harshness. Good balance and a decent body.

Draft. Nice pour, robust head. Not much to the aroma. Notes of citrus, rye, hops. An overall good rye IPA.
