Our most award-winning beer, Robust Porter honors the dark, full-bodied ales that were a favorite of dockworkers and warehousemen (hence the name “Porter”) in 19th century London, where the style originated.
It’s a good bet that when Dickens’ Mr. Pickwick sat down for a pint, his beer would have been very similar to our Robust Porter. This smooth, deceptively drinkable beer features an assertive hop profile which accentuates signature flavors of coffee and dark chocolate.

Good flavor, but really strong. A little too strong. Okay, it’s about as strong as the guy in the unitard on the label: like it’s been working out for years and taking selfies at the gym.

Single bottle from Julio’s. Pours out jet black with a frothy dark tan head. Very roasty aroma and flavors with decent hop balance. Dry bittersweet finish. Excellent porter.

Black colored porter with small but creamy head. Nice body with malty chocolate taste and some smoke aroma. Finish a bit thin for my taste. Decent porter but not astonishing.

Tasted this in Alfie’s Bar on 800 9th Avenue, New York on the 23rd September 2015. Keg dispense in a half pint glass. Black in colour with ruby highlights and a thin, creamy pale buff head. Strong sweetness of drinking chocolate powder coming through in the intense malty aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark complex malts give a smooth delivery of liquorice, black coffee and roast grain flavours full in the mouth. Short dusty hop prickle adds a quick bitter aftertaste. Finish is smooth and malty with roast malt, liquorice, coffee beans and dark chocolate notes once again linger in the palate. This is a decent tasting Porter that belies the high gravity - beware!
