355 ml bottle bought at Grebhan´s, Bremen. Pours out black and oily. Nearly no head. Choco and leather on the nose. Strong start with toffee, malt and hop in the second row. Some bitterness. Hints of citrus. Long aftertaste. Really nice one.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From 355 ml bottle. In the glass it’s a solid black with just a hint of brown highlight at the edge and a thick lasting tan head. I get aromas of chocolate, cherries, raisins, coffee nibs, walnuts and toffee. In the mouth, the first thing is a burst of fresh cherry, stewed fruit and dark chocolate. A strong coffee bitterness with a smoky overtone kicks in. There’s also a sharp fruity note similar to something from a good espresso. That leads to a chocolate and coffee finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Phenomenal.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light Brown head that stays there for a while, black body.
Bitter chocolate taste which is deeper than expected from a beer with this alcohol level.

12 oz. bottle picked up locally. Strange that I haven’t rated this yet (well, not really, just got caught in the backlog). Pours a dark brown color with a large frothy khaki head that diminishes into a thin layer with sporadic lacing. The aroma has roasted malts, some coffee, nice dark chocolate, and earth. The flavor is much of the same; roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, earth, and a subtle nutty character. Pretty much your basic robust porter, but well done, light medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Nearly black with a frothy tan head. Nice milk chocolate plate in the aroma, with a bit of smokiness and honey-tinged graham crackers. A little toasted marshmallow as well, plus a little prune. Flavor kicks off with dark fruits and bitterness, while dry burnt malt makes up the finish. A little bitter dark chocolate and smoke as well. Lingering roast. Smooth medium-light body; moderate prickly bitterness. Outstanding flavor and balance. Great example of the style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle at a BYOB, no date or ABV details. Black, small brown head endures. Aroma is treacle, ash, a little raspberry and some bbq sauce. Also a little metallic. Body is medium, light carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is twiggy, roast malts, very astringent and ashy, burnt wood, metallic, soft sweetness. Pretty nice stuff.
