| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 11, 2002 Blackened cherrywood colour with a finger of foam; though hampered by a cold I’ve got some good quality roast grains in the aroma, some black rye bread, wood, vanilla and a little bit of cocoa. Palate-wise this is smooth, sweet, and filling - the body is rich enough to carry through. Sweet malts, demerara, and chocolate chip cookie dough lead the way, but the beer turns drier, roastier, and hoppier in the finish. I love the way the two elements are balanced off of each other. Very enjoyable - a winter beer that you can drink in quantity. Thanks to Jeffrey at Esprit for calling in the favours to bring this to Toronto.
