A hearty ebony colored ale that starts with a rich malty palate finished with clean hops and notes of coffee and chocolate.

Too dark in the pink to really tell what it looks or smells like. Malty, coffee, dark chocolate. Nice body and finishes with some bitter hops. Not big into smutty nose, but this is good!

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2014 Dark brown with a finger and a half of tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, slight hop brightness. Taste follows in suit. It’s a little thin, but very good for the style, bot timid on the flavor. A good easier drinking dark beer (porter).

Dark pour, big creamy tannish head. Smell is very hoppy along with milk chocoalte and a hint of latte. The flavor is nice, some smoke, some coffee, ashines, chocoalte, pumpernickel, spicy hops.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. A fairly unique aroma combination that starts with a notable earthy/mushroom and coffee mix. After a while, I started to pick up some raisins followed by some basement-dampness. As this warms and mellows, some light alcohol notes start to poke through with a medium strength cola-caramel smell. The dark brown body is topped by a thin, light-colored espresso head that leaves a trace amount of lacing. The taste is primarily coffee bitter at a medium level with a medium/medium-light sweetness. The tongue starts out with the cola-caramel flavors and some dark fruits (plums and raisins). The medium body has an average carbonation which is oily with a bit of a grainy feel to it. A toasted, borderline burnt toast, flavor finishes the drink and leaves a strong coffee and cola aftertaste that lingers.

Really great porter, probably the best widely-available porter made in New England. Until I can get my hands on another Hill Farmstead Everett this is where Ill be going for american porter.
