3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A burnt character as to style is pleasant and noticeable. I also get coffee, toffee aromatics on the nose. The color is black with a tan head with poor head retention. Burnt toasty flavor with coffee highlights and a lingering bitterness from a combination of the roast malt and the hops. Medium body with a medium-high carbonation and an astringency that hangs on the tongue and lets u know its a robust porter. Overall, a good example of a robust porter, but it could be improved with a more complex malt bill.

Black in color with thin , beige head . Coffee , chocolate and nuts in aroma. Light sweetness in taste is mixed with roasted bitterness. Almost my ideal porter.

I might have drank too many porters lately - this one kinda misses the mark. Decent coffee flavor, but has a nasty sour aftertaste. I will have to try this again sometime.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Nice hoppy porter with chocolate and coffee notes.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A very dark reddish brown coloured beer with a thick latte coloured head. A light roasted malt aroma, coffee, chocolate and nutty, plus a hint of ripe red fruits. Medium dry and fizzy mouthfeel. A bitter sweet roasted malt taste, burnt sugar, strong espresso coffee, dark chocolate, and nutty, then the sweeter ripened red fruit flavour comes through towards the end. The finish is bitter sweet and lengthy. Bottle from Beers of Europe.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate nibs and hint of coffee. Appearance is opaque black with minimal light brown head, with fair foamy lacing. Taste is balanced moderately sweet chocolatey flavor with moderately bitter coffee flavor. Palate is medium bodied with medium, slightly slick texture, soft carbonation and nice, long finish like chocolate covered espresso beans. Overall, really nice all around. Nitpicking, head could be larger, texture a little thicker, but those things only separate it from where it is--very, very, good, with the only place left to go--world class.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Rudat, Dortmund. The beer starts malty intense. Dark red fruit, plums, malt with a nice subtle but intense sweetness. Viscous, bitter-sweet, a bit too burned in the end, still easy to drink, roasted burned malt with plums and quite much hop bitterness in the end. Very interesting but nice!
