3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A burnt character as to style is pleasant and noticeable. I also get coffee, toffee aromatics on the nose. The color is black with a tan head with poor head retention. Burnt toasty flavor with coffee highlights and a lingering bitterness from a combination of the roast malt and the hops. Medium body with a medium-high carbonation and an astringency that hangs on the tongue and lets u know its a robust porter. Overall, a good example of a robust porter, but it could be improved with a more complex malt bill.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark-chocolate-to-cola brown with 2mm light-brown head that fades moderate-to-quick. Aroma is dark, chewy caramel and candied pine sap. Light coffee. hint of scone. Body is medium-light, somewhat oily, moderate-coarseness carbonation, very creamy with medium-light burn. Flavor is toasted bread, touch of rye and pumpernickel, slight resin, pine, and grapefruit peel. Overall, an exceptional porter, amazing creamy body and dark forest notes. Yumm!!!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black with a moderate velvet brown head. Aroma is rich chocolate and coffee with roasted malts. Taste is just an awesome porter. Right to style, nothing special, nothing gimmicky, just a damn good porter.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 6/8/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around- the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, light smoke/char, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, light smoke/char, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast and herbal hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome porter style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink for the abv. A highly enjoyable offering.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Starchy on the palate, light body, malty, grains, coffee, vanilla, very easy drinking without being smooth. I love porters but not a fan of this one

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with a thin khaki head and minimal lacing. Taste of dark chocolate, coffee and a profound herbal hop finish. Medium carbonation, medium body. Overall, a little too hoppy for my palate. I prefer my porters to be more malt dominant. Cheers

Dark, thick, as a Porter should be. More on the Stout side than Porter. Go for it!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle served in a tumbler- poured a non transparent black when held to a light source (not quite midnight black during a severe thunderstorm, but a solid non changed motor oil after 7500 miles), somewhat lively medium carbonation, thin wisps of a tan head that just coated the liquid surface and sat very still in the vessel, some lacing upon the vessel. Aroma of coffee, baker’s chocolate, and a roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a very wide body, malt tastes like it put into the roaster by the new guy and forgotten about until the end of the shift- which works in this case, some smoke in the middle, finish coats the palate and lasts, just a touch of oil on the backend. Why did I wait so long to try this? And why did I only buy one?!?!
