UPDATED: JUN 29, 2013 12 oz Bottle. The pour was a deep dark brown, almost black with an average (1-2 finger) frothy light brown head that reduced down to a thin puddled film, which lasted throughout and had some really excellent streaky lacing.
The aroma was of burnt chocolate malts and a strong leathery yeast with notes of dark roasted coffee, molasses, dark bitter chocolate and a mild smokiness.
The taste was mildly bitter-sweet and very malty with a bold chocolate note in the beginning, and then became a little more on the bitter side with a strong dose of coffee towards the finish. The flavor lasted a good long while following the swallow with a nice roasty coffee taste settling in on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was full in body and rather creamy yet slightly dry in texture with an mild carbonation.
Overall I found this brew to be very Robust just as the name insinuates, and rather flavorful with a nice roasty characteristic. The mocha espresso taste made it very drinkable and quite enjoyable to sip on. This is a beer that most definitely does justice to the style...

Bottled. Black with a large, thick tan head. Rich aroma: milk chocolate, cocoa powder, dark roast coffee, wet soil, light mint leaves. Mildly sweet at first, turning mild-to-moderately bitter as coffee beans and chocolate malts come to the forefront. Roasted pecans, light black tea, slightly charred wood notes flow in and out during the flavor profile. A rather flawless porter.

Opaque, near black with a creamy tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of smoky roasted malt, caramel and roasted coffee.
Taste of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, wood duff and burnt sugar.
Full/medium body and low/medium carbonization.

Pours a deep black/brown with a medium creamy beige head. Aroma is coffee, smoked wood chips, chocolate, grassy hop. Flavor is bitter hop, roasted / smoked malts, some dark fruit & licorice. Finish is lightly bitter, definite ash in the taste. Very solid all around, med body / avg carbo.

12oz into a pint, pours a thick black and burnt brown shade of darkness, taste is midly hoppy, carbination is delicate and direct, malt presence is a main stay as it fortifies the brew in the porter sense, dry to the tounge, coca, old coffee, dark fruits, a full bodied porter here with a backbone to support it. Not really a porter fan, so one is enough, but a good one it was. Sampled from a variety pack Julio brought over.

Pours black, mocha head. Aroma of coffee. Taste is chocolate, caramel, espresso, very complex, great finish and mouth feel. Just the right carbonation. Love it!

Petite bouteille trouvée à Richford. Meilleure avant le 28 octobre 2014. Une robe presque noire. Une tête qui s’évapore rapidement. Une jolie dentelle. Mon nez aime beaucoup les arômes de pain brûlé, de torréfaction, de sirop d’érable et de chocolat. Au goût, mes papilles restent bien accrochées aux délicieux malts et houblons: j’adore la pointe citronnée derrière les céréales bien norcies. En bouche, j’apprécie sa structure crémeuse et la vivacité de son corps. En finale, je me régale de cette longue tirade d’amertume offerte par les cultivars et les grains rôtis. Quel excellent porter!

Black colour, moderate tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, notes of coffee, hints of dark chocolate. Decent roasty and woody flavour, notes of coffee and unsweetened liquorice, hints of burnt sugar and dark bitter chocolate.

Good assertive hops in the profile, that plays well with the roasted malts. It’s one of my favorite beers from Smuttynose.

Nice example of a porter. Flavors of malt, coffee and a hint of smoke. Very nice.

Black. Nice frothy creamy medium brown head. Aromas is great. Chocolatey and a really welcoming light coffee roastiness. Higher end of light body. Smooth and creamy. Flavor is cocoa and light coffee. Pretty Dry. Light earthy like bitterness. Great balance for my tastes. Tasty with great drinkability, if a little thin. More character and complexity than the typical porter. Prefect roastiness throughout.
