On tap at Irreale. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Dark chocolate flavor with peppery notes, nice tobacco background. When warmed, it has some new aroma notes, nutty hints and tobacco. Perhaps a little bit high acidity from the roasted malts. Good beer.

(Smuttynose Robust Porter) Bottle 355 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 6.6% Black coloured bosy with a full finger of thick, light brown head on top, with good retention, leaving light lacing behind. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate. Great taste, lots of roasted and burnt malts, dark chocolate, coal, light acidity somewhere in between, eventually finishing with a nice roasty bitterness. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Pretty good.

It’s robust. Solid taste of chocolate and roast coffee in the malt. A little bitterness in the hops but not too much. Medium bodied and quite drinkable. A little smokey.

Draft sample at the Cherry Blossom Beer & Wine fest a week ago, opaque dark brown color with light tan head. Aroma notes of roasted malt, dark coffee, chocolate and some smoke. Taste adds cocoa, espresso, ash and some herbal hops. Light-medium body, low-moderate carbonation, dry, soft with roast finish. Not many dark styles here so this is very tasty and appreciated.

Idiosynkrasie (4589) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 14, 2015
350ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Dusty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of cocoa, unroasted coffee beans. Taste is initially dry, chocolately, roasty, spicy dark malty with subtle sweetness, slightly dusty, later with more and more resinous hoppy influences; lasting, bitter, roasty, spicy finish, full body, super soft palate. Paradigmatic.
