Nice body IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 15, 2008 Bottle Pours a hazy medium brown witha small beige head and spotty lacing. Malty brown sugar aroma. Weird medeciny flavor . Like a halls cough drop, or vick’s vapo-rub . Some peat smoked notes and some tart hoppy bitterness. Fairly thin and lingering woody bitterness.
Thanks BuckeyeBoy for this ne. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jan 11, 2008 As usual, thanks for this one goes out to skyview. Copper color with faint head and a hint of peat. Much more satisfactory hints of peat in the body. EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA Jan 10, 2008 2007 bomber. Pours hazy brown with a nice head. Head stays around for a bit, nice lacing. Smell is malt, smoked malt, no hop. Taste is quite sweet, with smoked malt, malt. caramel, dry fruit, some acidity, a bit of wine character. Smoked character is tad stronger than I like but YMMV. Pretty nice wee heavy. badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jan 10, 2008 Another offering from the one and only Skyview. Dark copper color with no head. A bit of peaty smoke aroma. Peat comes out with a vengeance in the taste. Sweet malt and caramel. Someone mentioned a BandAid taste and once mentioned, it’s hard to get that out of your mind because it is pretty accurate. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jan 9, 2008 Purchased a 22-oz bomber at Discount Liquors in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear reddish amber brew with a thick beige head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a touch of smoked peat, and raisins. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a strong peaty flavor that overpowers any caramel malt or any hop presence. Finish is smooth, creamy with a smokey peat aftertaste that really makes this beer a memorable drink. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 8, 2008 Bottle purchased in Portsmouth, NH--Poured a deep cloudy mahogany-chestnut-brown with bright amber highlights. Nice small creamy beige hed with some good lacing. Sweet, boozy, malted, caramel nose. Richly carbonated with a mild dryness. Distinct yet subtle smoky peaty character that finishes beautifully. I love this brewery and this beer! TampaBeer (181), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 6, 2008 Draft. Very little going on here in the way of aroma, but the flavor is solid. However, the beer is not that substantial overall - it’s a little thin for a scotch ale, I thought.
