The label on mine is different than the picture, just says "Scotch Ale." 2007 bottle, I assume that’s why. Reddish brown pour with a thin white head. Malty aroma - toffee, brown sugar, alcohol, musty, and hugely woody. Super woody in the flavor. Good body, but I can’t taste much other than the peat and smokiness. Unbalanced. I’d give this another chance though. BuckeyeBoy (1654), Boise, Idaho, USA

Malty brown sugar aroma. Weird medeciny flavor . Like a halls cough drop, or vick’s vapo-rub . Some peat smoked notes and some tart hoppy bitterness. Fairly thin and lingering woody bitterness.
Thanks BuckeyeBoy for this ne. BDR (2154), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Smell is malt, smoked malt, no hop. Taste is quite sweet, with smoked malt, malt. caramel, dry fruit, some acidity, a bit of wine character. Smoked character is tad stronger than I like but YMMV. Pretty nice wee heavy. badgerben (3596), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Another offering from the one and only Skyview. Dark copper color with no head. A bit of peaty smoke aroma. Peat comes out with a vengeance in the taste. Sweet malt and caramel. Someone mentioned a BandAid taste and once mentioned, it’s hard to get that out of your mind because it is pretty accurate. Skyview (4020), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Purchased a 22-oz bomber at Discount Liquors in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear reddish amber brew with a thick beige head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, a touch of smoked peat, and raisins. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a strong peaty flavor that overpowers any caramel malt or any hop presence. Finish is smooth, creamy with a smokey peat aftertaste that really makes this beer a memorable drink. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
