thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Nov 17, 2007 Pours deep amber into a stem glass. Off-white Smutty head. Dark caramel aromas. Creamy and fizzy with upfront 3 musketeers -- turns quite smoky - almost Rauch-lite. Very nice. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Nov 17, 2007 22 oz bomber. Pours a reddish/brown with a small off whiteish creamy head that coats the body very nicely. Big smokey aroma of peat that makes me think this should almost be a ruachbier but hey it isn’t. So we have a peat smoke aroma with notes of amber malts, honey, and a slight hint of chocolate. Flavor of smoke, I know it isn’t a rauchbier, citrus hops, chocolate and a little touch of alcohol. Nice stuff.. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 11, 2007 22oz bottle-pours a foamy tan head and amber color. Aroma is smoky/peat, medium malt. Taste is smoky/peat, medium malt, woody, secondary hops bite. OK carbonation. Nicely done, not my style. Good carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing. kevin62 (267), New Jersey, USA Nov 11, 2007 Had this on draft-Poured out an amber color with a small tan head.Aromas of smoke and peat, which were also reflected in the taste,as well as some hops.Different at first, kind of grew on me. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Nov 10, 2007 Tap at Barcade: Amber brown pour topped by a tan dense film. Nice thick velvety carbonation, smooth on the palate. Aroma of earthy, lightly smoked malts and cholate-nut hints. The flavor has a roasted peanut character with a light vanilla hints in the background; along with caramel, peat, and a nice smokey finish. A well crafted Scotch Ale. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 10, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Aroma is medium sweet. Smells malty with notes of grains, nuts, light wood, brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of chocolate. Poured dark brown with hints of ruby and amber and a large, creamy, khaki head that lasted throughout. Small lacing. Hazy with many small floating particles. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, toasted malts, hazelnuts, smoke, and wood. Medium body. Texture is chewy and a little sticky. Average carbonation. Toasted, malty finish. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Nov 5, 2007 Sweet dark malt with some hints of wood in the aroma. Clear amber color with a small tan head. Strong sweetness in the beginning. Finishing with a moderate bitterness. Slight alcohol burn. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 5, 2007 Clear amber with thin white head. Aroma is minimal, but malty and caramelly. Taste is very smoky with a slightly bitter edge. Not bad, but it could use a bit "more" of everything except the smoke.$5/22oz
