Medium brown, small head, little to no lacing. Malty nose but not otherwise interesting. Taste is less smokey than I expect from a Scotch ale, just good dark malts, sweet toffee, bitter finish. Not intesnse or especially complex, not outstanding as a Scotch style or as an ale. // Rerated second class from same bottle, 90 minutes later when warmed sufficiently. Far more intense nose and taste, more complexity, far more interesting appearance. Less clear, more head.

650ml bottle from the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/new-york/buffalo/premier-gourmet/443.htm target=blank>Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Brilliant copper in colour, thin tan coloured head, some lacing. The aroma is of light cookie malts, vanilla latte, some caramel, sugar, good sweetness. The flavour is of light alcohol, vanilla, high sweetness, quite malty, scotch. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a lingering alcohol warmth, lots of sweet caramel. The very light aroma wasn’t a great start but I enjoyed the malty flavour.

Bottle from someone, I think Brandon (santa(notalush)). Thanks! Pours out a dark brown color with a thick tan head. Smell is malty, rich, hoppy, and rich. Taste is similar, with a nice sweetness and huge malt presence. A pretty good scotch ale actually. I love the beers this brewery makes regardless.

This bottled brew was sampled at the RateBeer gathering at Dick’s Bodacious Bar-B-Que. It poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a very hazy brown colored body with no visible carbonation and lots of floating yeast particles. The aroma was mild with sweet malty notes. The mouth feel was tingly and mildly vinous at the start then mellowed in the finish. The flavor contained sweet malty vinous notes.

poured a dark dark brown. aroma is strong, malty, grassy, and sweet. bursting with flavors. Honey, caramel malts, sweet and slightly grassy. i ussualy hate beers that have the sour grassy flavors, if you know what i meen. but this was really good. good texture too. i enjoyed this beer alot.

Bottle. Small fizzy tan head that mostly diminished, decent lacing, cloudy, and a brown hue. Malty, caramel, sweet, some smoke notes, and toffee nose. Flavor was malty, caramel, sweet and toffee. Smooth palate.

Hazy dark brown body with a smallish head. Aroma was chocolate, sugar, more hops than other Scotch ales I’ve had and loads of caramel. Couldn’t get any smoke notes. Good stuff anyway. 2007 bottle: same color, similar notes but smoke notes are obvious. Better. 7/4/7/4/15
