axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 17, 2006 Poured a cloudy dark brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is carmel, sweet smoke, and roasted malts. Flavors were carmel and roasted malts with some sweet smoke and molasses. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 16, 2006 Hazy dark brown colour. Toasty, smokey aroma with a hint of brown sugar that also reminds me of a toasted coconut doughnut. So it would mix well with a coffee stout, then? Sweet, with rich toffee notes and accents of molasses and wood. I found the sweetness started to get to me by the end of the bomber but it’s a pretty solid beer and if sweet is your thing, do it up. beerprincess (51), Indiana, USA Apr 5, 2006 Sweet toffee nose. Cloudy, dirty brown color that lingers on the palate. Very well balanced. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2006 Sample at Indy tasting Dick’s BBQ 3/31/06 - Aroma of toffee, carmel, roasted malt, and raisin. Pours mud puddle brown with small head and decent lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is sticky. Pretty tasty stuff. Gmoney (250), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA Apr 2, 2006 22 oz bomber.. dark brown pour ,small wispy white head . nose of caramel and malt. good flavor of a sort of smokey/sweet caramel sugar mix . good mouthfeel and a pleasant alcohol warm , good stuff GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 22, 2006 Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc, blankboy & HogTownHarry - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Dark, murky ruby colour with a wispy head. Aroma is warm and boozy, with lots of caramel and a bit of smoke. Flavour of brown sugar, malt, whiskey & smoke. A bit hot, but pretty nice. kylelackner (13), USA Mar 15, 2006 A good beer, with strong, roasty malts, particularly as it warms. I was actually surprised to see the relatively "low" alcohol content, which i had pegged in the 8% area. A little roastier than most scotch style beers I’ve tasted, but overall an excellent beer within the class. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 2, 2006 Bottle, shared with GregClow, Hogtown Harry, Jerc, and Blankboy, Harry’s bottle. Nice dark brown/orange, small white head. Nice smoky, malt fruity aroma - right on style but mild. Strong alcohol taste, lots of sweetness (caramel), but really any of the fruit the aroma suggests. Overall, a really nice Scotch Ale - rarely do beers actually nail this style, but I thought this one did an excellent job.
