The head was very creamy and left a good ring a long the glass. Nose consisted of caramel malts, fruits and wine. Good taste which perhaps got a little fruity towards the end. This one had been sitting for a while which probably helped it. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2005 Fruity malt nose, off-white head, brownish-amber body. Strawberries and caramel in the body, mild finishing bitterness. Some alcohol presence, surprising since it’s only 6.2%. rudolf (1758), Buffalo, New York, USA

Malt, plum, lemon, brown sugar.. An almost belgian frutiness. Nice but not a scotch IMHO Cletus (5052), Connecticut, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 7, 2005 Chocolate, fruit, mild alcohol in the aroma. Muddy brown coloured body with shy tan head that recedes to cover with some sudsy lacing. Very alcoholic flavour initially that recedes slightly leaving a yeasty, fruity base with some round butterscotch tones that leads to a dry, roasty, bitter finish. Somewhat oily in texture with medium-light body that just doesn’t seem thick enough for a scotch ale. I would have preferred a more malty profile. Bottle sampled with DumDum, Nicholas and Olivier. Sweet caramely, toasty body with touches of dark fruit. Just a touch of smoked malt flavor. Rich, deep body. Have to stick with the consensus here; this is a very solid beer, perfect for the style yet not broaching any new ground. Thanks Dan (jah noth) for the bomber! Pours coppery nut brown to a clean mahogany with a small bubbly tan head that gathers up around the glass edge to then give a nice film of lacing as you enjoy the brew. Aroma is complex caramel malts with creamy oats and sweet mild chocolate notes. The initial draw is sweet caramel malt and then you notice the sublte alcohol coming through with a fizziness to it and then a creamy roasted malt tingles your mouth while you wait for the next draw. The palate is warm and medium to full-bodied and fizzy, and leaves your mouth watering while waiting for the next draw. A most inviting and drinkable brew. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2005 Bottle pours deep red, orangish tint, small light tan fizzly head, hazy, strong carbonation, with spotty lacing. Malty aroma, slightly buttery, but also a bit medicinal. Sweet malts on the tongue, soft bitterness, slightly thick and biscuity. A lighter scotch ale (in flavor), but tiz fairly smooth. Medium body, somewhat thick mouthfeel. Light finish, sweet and malty. Not bad! Thanks goes out to radiomgb for the trade!
