Pours a hazy amber with off-white head, ok retention. Aroma of alcohol & caramel. Flavor is a nice semi sweet caramel & alcohol spice. Medium full body with medium carbonation. Pretty good stuff...... Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA May 19, 2008 "Sweet malty" is the complete essence of this beer. This one was totally malt based and had lots of brown sugar and honey overtones, with very small undertones of cane sugar and beet juice. There was minimal hoppiness and actually a slight bit of astringentness, but this beer was quiet honestly amazingly drinkable and succulent. Succulently pleasant is the best way to describe this masterpiece. Really one of a kind and remarkable.
JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 9, 2008 Tap at Mugs. Aroma is great, nice chewy sweetness with lots of sticky, chewy, peaty smoke. Rich maltiness, brown sugar, light rum and chewy sweetness. A bit of plumminess on the back. Rich palate, sweet but not cloying, silky mouthfeel. Lingering kettle caramelization and rich peaty smoke. No complaints about this one. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 7, 2008 Bottle: Pours brown with an off white head. Aroma, peat, smoky notes, band aids, brown sugar. Flavor, smoky, peaty, fruits, some caramel and sweet malts, earthy. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA May 7, 2008 Bottle: This one caught me off guard with the clinical aroma of cloth band-aids and perhaps an open bag of beef jerky that’s been sitting in your glove box for a couple days because you forgot about it at DLD. Fortunately the smoky taste is more peaty than meaty. Pretty mild flavor, some caramel, but finishes dry.
