Fortunately the smoky taste is more peaty than meaty. Pretty mild flavor, some caramel, but finishes dry.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2008 This poured dark caramel in color with an off-white head of medium-bubbles. The nose was sweet and candied with aromas of bubble gum, sweet caramel and a smokiness in the back. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with a sweeness in the mid-palate before finishing dry. oteyj (744), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA

Aroma mostly lemony citrus with a hint of malt and hops- nothing super impressive. Flavor was suprisingly fufilling with malt backbone present, as well as nice integration of spice. Nice bodied mouthfeel while still being quite refreshing. This is suprisingly good. craftycarl21 (542), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 21, 2008 appearance is a dark cherry with an ivory colored head, fairly quickly dissipating with minimal lacing. subtle but nice aroma of malt, some spice, and a sweetish candy aspect to it as well. taste is very interesting- malty with some bitter smokiness complimenting the sweet traits nicely. pretty solid mouthfeel, another really good offering from Smutty. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA

Looks like a typical quality Scotch on the pour, except for the very active carbonation. Impressive, and a nice head to boot. The aroma is pleasantly sweet, promising malty goodness. But I was unprepared for the smokiness, a lovely dry addition to the candied malts that round out the middle. It’s really quite solid, peat and firewood with a trace of molasses in there. Another kickass beer from Smutty. Goodgrief (1149), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Pours dark amber brown with minimal head and a little lacing. Aroma was smoke. Flavor was super smokey, almost Aecht Schlenkerla smokey, with lots of sweet brown sugar. It was good, but not great. Maybe a tad too sweet and sugary.
