ericnixon (711), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA Apr 23, 2004 On tap - Super mega dark coppery color that was only somewhat normal copperyness around the edges. I couldn't discern a perceptable aroma (i have a slight cold). Slight fizzy mouthfeel with a blissfully wonderful malty taste. Simply amazing stuff. Sadly, my girlfriend liked it a lot too...meaning she gave me the beer she was drinking and she got the rest of mine. )= npdempse (930), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 18, 2004 Dark brown, clear, with a light brown head. Sweet nose with licorice, coffee, chocolate. Exquisite flavor--sweet and rosy, with some light chocolate notes and fruity hints of cherries and strawberries. jah noth (934), Rochester, New York, USA Dec 18, 2003 This is an extremely tasty ale and another winner from Smuttynose. Fresh malt aroma and deep garnet color. Nice roasted malt flavor with underlying taste of chocolate and cherries. Nicely balanced with hop presence, this is an exceptional Scotch ale. Many thanks to Goz for this tasty treat. KariCupcake (215), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA May 29, 2005 Big bottle. Smells nice. Very very smooth and tastes like thistles (didn’t see the label on the bottle until after I tasted it) with an undercurrent of apples. No aftertaste at all. I love it! joekinty (154), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 what a beautiful beer wonderfull aromas of swet malts dark fruits roasted barley and slight tabacco slight cherry in the flavor some moked or peated malts just a great brew hope you enjoy it as much as I did
