2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 phillymonksman (60) - Ardmore, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2003
Nice amber appearance with a
winey aroma. A warm feeling in mouth
with some hops.
A nice Pale Ale, however I enjoy IPA's for
a better after taste than this beer.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 apoptosis (1317) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2003
A very crisp pale ale, but not very hoppy for a pale ale. Hints of citrus, somewhat skunky aroma. Dark amber color, little head around the sides of the glass. Dry, malty.

I liked this one. pours a beautiful amber/maroon color. It tastes bitterly gwood!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 notalush (4174) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2003
This is a pretty darn good pale ale. Light copper in color with a slight lacing. Aroma is mostly of hops. This has a nice malt backbone, which makes way in the middle for the moderate hoppiness, but then returns again to join in harmony with the hops in the finish. The long-term of the finish, however, has an slightly unenjoyable bitterness to it. Overall a decent pale ale. I like these smuttynose people.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 UnionMade (621) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 20, 2003
I'm thinking that all their products are good. The real test is if the "regular" beers are up to par, which this one is. Slightly cloudy amber gold, with a fluffy white head. Good head retention. Aroma is mostly a spicy hoppiness, with a light estery fruitiness. Very well balanced, with a good deal of the hops coming out in the finish. Awesome. My only complaint is that I'd like less carbonation. Kind of kills some of the maltiness.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kwoeltje (2066) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - MAR 2, 2003
Nice amber color. Good head. Slightly sweet malt balanced by hops. Hints of fruit. I agree with the rater who said this would be a good session beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 3, 2003
Beautiful amber body topped with a medium thick white head and good lace. Sweet hoppy aroma with lemony notes. Slightly sweet very hoppy flavor with lemony accents. Medium bodied and slightly dry.

Has a nice amber color and a fruity smell. Taste is malty and finishes mildly bitter. Overall nothing special...
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20 herbjones (742) - Orange, California, USA - NOV 24, 2002
Copper pour with a wispy head that lingers. Nice hop nose with both floral and citrus coming through. This is a really good brew. Nice hop crispiness but the malt backbone is never far from the taste buds. The one thing I would like is a little more body. Still this would make a great session/everyday drinker. Thanks to hopsrus for this one.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 urbnhautebourg (997) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2002
This is a great looking beer. Nice looking copper color with excellent effervescence (but poor head). Sweet malt and citric hops in the nose, duplicated in flavor: complex, juicy, fine, divine and on time. Long, dry and suitable bitter finish. On the whole, reminiscent of Anderson Valley ESB and Troegs ESB. Good stuff.
