| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 14, 2009 beautiful thick head that laces incredibly (i wasn’t expecting that), deep cloudy amber-red, nose is wonderfully malty-sour! not sweet (a plus for me)...smells like a world class lager (!)...probably not fair that this is following a tasting of SN Torpedo...but you know, this stands its proud ground as an american British (traditional?) Pale...hops actually snap at the palate very nicely...again THANKFULLY not really sweet at all. i don’t know, it’s like a hopped up lager. very drinkable and i am impressed. for what it IS (it isn’t a hophead’s wet, bitter dream), it scores high on all points. it has backbone, spice, creaminess, beautiful to look at...smell isn’t hiding anything. simply well-balanced and unique enough to be a fun session brew. would go well with chowders and anything cajun/creole. glad my first Smuttynose isn’t a disappointment in the least! smith4498 (961), Miami, Florida, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 7, 2009 I just needed a quick late night beer last night and figured a pale ale would fit the bill. Pours a clear brown with a small. Aroma of flowery hops, sweet malt, fruity. Flavor of sweet malt, bitter finish. Some hops. Not particularly flavorful. Average Pale. gws57 (1151), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Found this one bottled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Cloudy, light reddish-brown pour with a thick, off-white foamy head, a crisp, citrusy hoppy head, and nice pronounced and clean hoppy presence. Very nice example of the style. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

Moderately bitter and fairly drinkable. Mixed citrus aromas with a touch of flowers. Supporting flavors of bread, citrus, evergreen, honey, and caramel. Seemed a little off, but was still OK. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Copperish brown in color. Nice thin head sitting on top. Not bad looking. Aromatic bread and butter smell. This beer doesn’t smell half bad. It is fairly pungent for a beer. Butter and bread taste as well. Decent texture with the palate. Slight hop taste with this one. Not a bad beer. I am not usually a fan of the English pale ales, but I like the use of the bread and butter flavor. I also enjoy the use of hops, I was very surprised by this. poolboy (66), Lafayette, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Amber with small white head. Nothing special in the taste but quite drinkable. A little to much citrus for my taste. Not enough malt. The hops save the day though.
