The beer uses our best-selling Finest Kind IPA as template, but a few key changes make this beer quite different. 1) We tweaked the grain bill adding 30% rye malt and swapped Aromatic malt for C-60. Rye adds a spicy note while Aromatic malt adds a more subtle flavor than C-60 but increases malt aroma. 2) We lowered the mash rest temperature a few degrees, giving the final beer less body and more drinkability. 3) We jacked up the dry hopping to four times the level of Finest Kind. You know what that means, big aroma in your olfactory. See you Thursday, and yes, we will be pouring samples so you can try before you buy. Cheers! Poured a clear orange with a white head. Aroma was of grassy and citrusy hops. Flavor similar, refreshimg, but maybe a bit old.

Looks and smells like a good IPA, but the addition of rye to the grain bill adds the classic rye spiciness that I really like. Needed a few more hops and not well carbonated, but still pretty good...

On tap at Good Beer, NYC, pours a light golden orangish color with a small head. Nose is citrus and bhoppy. Taste is full if woody citrus, pine and resin with nice bitterness. Finishes is dry and ends on the same tasting notes with a moderate to long ending. Quaff Score 7 / 10

On tap at Good Beer in NYC. Pours a hazy golden with an off white head and aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is bitter sweet, of hops, citrus, rye, resin, and toasty caramel with a dry, bitter finish. Drinkable, tasty IPA

2013 22oz bottle from Party Source, labeled "Rhye IPA" (with a rhino on it). Shared with friends. Hazy vibrant orange color, thin off-white head. Leaves good lace. Nice big orange-citrus hop flavor. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Good full body. Lightly dry finish. Flavor is a nice balance of citrusy grassy hop and spicy tingly bready rye malt. Moderate to stronger bitter taste, little sweet. Tasty, satisfying rye IPA. Friends liked it.

Tap at samís. deep orange pour with thick meringue creamy off white head. Nose is very fresh, herbal, light cannabis notes, green hops (but not overly so-just smells like a freshly crushed hop). Flavor is moderately bitter, lightly sweet, very herbal, earthy, fresh citrus, rye. A wonderful beer. Iím thankful for Smuttynose.

(750ml bottle) cloudy/pulpy rich orange, almost glows, offwhite spare head, pretty color makes up for it. Nose of candied citrus peels, orange pulp, lightly spicy rye, agave, cane sugar. Taste of spicy rye, grapefruit but well balanced by the malt, biscuit, agave, earthy and peppercorns. Medium-to-thick body, light carbonation, dry bitter finish.
