4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This was a really enjoyable beer, totally unique and unlike anything else I’ve tried. It has a rich, chocolately, caramel aroma, with a medium roastiness. Upon sipping, it creates an almost paradoxical sensation, with the intense hoppiness of an IPA combined with a rich caramel depth, a bit of dark chocolate, and a sort of dry roastiness, only a moderate roast. The hops have a floral character and are really delightful. Each sip is exciting and this is one of those beers that is so intense that I can’t drink it much faster than sipping it, but I also don’t want to stop sipping it because the aroma and sensations on the palate are so enjoyable.

De color marrón y espuma de media duración.
Mucho aroma a pino, con algo de caramelo.
En boca entra dulce tipo toffee para dar paso al lúpulo como una imperial ipa..
Alcohólica y resinosa con final amargo y duradero.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to vyvvy for this one
Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Nose seems a bit oxidized lite aromatic alcohol musty hops and chocolate. Flavors show a big wallop of alcohol and toasted chocolate. Hops are there but very woody. Body is somewhat lite for this high of abv Witch may be the reason it’s pretty hot.

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smuttynose Durty is, well, interesting. Pours a murky brown like mud with a nice head. Light floral aroma with caramel overtones. Taste is caramel with floral hop notes trying to shine through -- like someone mixed an average brown with a decent IPA. Durty is a good deScription and it isn’t too bad, but not something I would seek out again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pour into tulip glass from Hannaford, Exeter NH. Aroma is roasted malts with fruity/resiny hops with mild chocolate and caramel, whiff of dirty clothes hamper. Appearance is almost black (hazy dark ruby red with light source directly behind) with mild discernible sparkle, finger-width off-white head with poor retention and fair sudsy lacing. Taste is mix of roasted malts with some chocolate and floral/resiny/citrus hops with mix of bitter and sweet trading off. Booze hidden well. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, late lively carbonation at tip of tongue and all the complexity present in the finish. Overall, this is very black IPA-like and quite good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Most drinkable 8.4 ABV I ever tasted. Subtle coffe aroma, nice malt, not too bitter and not too fruity. Be careful with this one.
