COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Luna Moth is the name of our next Short Batch. It’s a hoppy saison, that features El Dorado hops, the only hop with it’s own website (seriously, it’s www.eldoradohops.com), as a dry hop. El Dorado infuses stone fruit, watermelon and pear characteristics when used as a dry-hop. Yum. Why a hoppy saison? Pretty simple, really... Smuttynose only gets one pitch of saison yeast each year for our Farmhouse Ale (shipping on May 28). We wanted to do a second beer with this unique yeast and we had just gotten a whole shed load of El Dorado pellets. Everything really came together nicely with this one and we think you’ll enjoy it.

75cl bottle at Gunnar tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours a slightly hazy golden color with a large soapy white head. Aroma is quite sweet and fruity with pear and pineapple notes. Yeast, grass and light spices. Taste is a tad sweet with good funky notes. More pear and pineapple, grass and earth tones. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes quite dry and zesy. Very interesting and good.

Bottle at CBC Clerkenwell cheers to Leighton. Pours cloudy orange with a small, firm white head. Nose is typical farmhouse with some zesty lemon, grapefruit and honey sweetness. Taste is silky sweet honey with big grapefruit, tangerine, mild funk, barnyard, hay and quite tangy. Nice drinkability with fine carbonation to help it flow. Touch sweet. A very solid drop

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell in London - I got this in MA. Pours clear gold with a strong, fluffy white head. The aroma has light lemony qualities and flowers. Light sweet flavor with nips of alcohol, citrus fruits, Childrens’ Tylenol, floral bitterness. Light in body with average to lively carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with faint warmth, melon, more flowers. So so.

pours hazy pale golden with a very nice and resilient white head, showing some nice lacing. spicy and toasted grains, sweetish caramel, very fruity - melons indeed, and packed with fruit oils - for instance citrus, grapes and pears, pepper, honey and golden candi, flowers. lively to average carbonation, light body - oily, short grassy-spicy finish. tad too sweet but nonetheless an interesting offer if not only for showcased hops.

Appearance: Pours a bright cloudy amber gold. beautiful head that subsides to a cap.

Aroma: Sweet citrus note, spicy yeast a slight toasted malt.

Taste: Spicy belgian yeast, banana esters, juicy citrus.

Mouthfeel: Prickly fizz juicy full bodied.

Overall: I love the concept and subsequent execution. I’ve never been a fan of the “Belgian IPA” because its usually overly sweet/malty for my liking. The dank nosed Saison however is right up my alley, with the bouquet of hops and dry earthiness of the saison yeast character.

Pouring at BCTC. Pours a hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Super spicy citrus, musk, touches of sweet caramel. Medium-bodied, spicy, wheat dries out nicely. Musk, wheat, gentle musky bitterness on the finish.
