Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 13, 2007 Sampled at the O-Town throwdown. Poured deep copper color with tan head. The aroma was big and sweet caramel. Yum, makes it somewhat irresistible. Of course the flavor follows suit with tasty caramelness and also some light amounts of dark fruitiness. Very nice Doble Bock that doesn’t become too sweet like others can. thornecb (1737), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Mar 12, 2007 Pours bright amber into a shaker. Offwhite head recedes to skim surface. Deep malt aromas. Creamy caramel from front to back. Slight hop in the finish. Alcohol well hidden. jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA Mar 11, 2007 Ruby-brownish-amber, nice kinda thin, creamy, persistent head and lace. Nose packed with sweet, dark, bready, toffeish malts. A bit of fruit and vanilla as well. Medium bodied, creamy, sweet and luscious. Spicy hops come to balance a bit along wth a shot of alcohol. Ends up with a smokey edge and grassy bitterness. This is really good. Could be a more subtle in terms of alcohol and hops but maybe a nap will meld this into a classic? I might even take this over a Celebrator, I know thats heresy but its not as it once was. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Mar 7, 2007 Dark ruby with a fairly large head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is very raisiny with caramel and more darker fruits, some earth and alcohol. Flavor brings this with a medium syrupy body. Solid, I gave it a bonus point because of the bottle pic. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Mar 7, 2007 Pours a dark amber color.Caramel and chocolate on the nose with same on the palate only adding some molasses and nuts.A small hoppy finish. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Mar 4, 2007 2004 bottle. Courtesy Matta. Pours a rich reddish color with a very light white head. Smells of monster caramel, sweet malts, and yeast. The taste is somewhat similar. I get alot of that big caramel and dark malts like a lot of doppelbocks. I even get some butterscotch in the finish which I thought was a nice finishing touch. Good brew. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Mar 1, 2007 From the 22 oz bomber, this poured an orange-tinged amber color with a sizable and solid foam head. It throws a wildly bitter hoppy nose ... my nose says, "holy cow!" This is an ubiquitousoen though ... the first swallow accosts my tongue with a solid malt tug, almost Scotch-like, yet with a hoppy bitter flourish at the finish. The more I drink, the more I like. This is a nicely assembled big (but not too big) beer. (#2730, 3/1/2007) JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 26, 2007 22 oz bottle. Dark brown beer with a thick tan head. Very swet malty aroma. Toffee and light caramel aroma. A bit of toast and herbal bitterness on the finish. Flavour is quite good, with lots of sweet toasted malt. Light earthiness and a fairly hoppy finish. Nice brew.
