Dark amber, maple syrupy brown brew with only a trace of head that lasts. Rich malt aromas, sweet, earthy, box o’raisins. My first impression is that the body is perfect, not too thick or cloying, light eff still present; but as the bottle is drained, I find the beer tends toward medium-thin, maybe to thin especially at the finish where I’d like it to be a bit sticky. Peppery spice middle to back and lingering. Nasal alcohol hit after the swallow is a bit overbearing. This would do well with a year in the cellar. Appearance: Slightly murky, brown brew with mid large creamy, tanned top. Good strong appearance. Nose: Rich , sweet with brown malts . Hint of chocolate, caramel, little of plums and hops. 8- Flavor/Palate : Full bodied, rich , clean with warming effect. Balancing bitterness is found. Neat solid example for cold late nights. Traditional, clear cut sample with roughneck like soul.

The Festivities: Roasted malt dominates the sweet and fruit components. Body is full, yet remains very drinkable. Hops of the herbal and earthy variety remain low-profile, but add an interesting flickering flame to the finish.
Transcendence: You know when you get to Grandma’s you’ll get a hearty broth to calm that gurgling stomach. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
