Commercial Description:
S'muttonator is a tasty mixture of German ingredients and good ol' fashioned New England tenaciousness. Our brewers take 30 hours to brew a single batch of this traditional Double Bock. Take your time and enjoy its rich, malty, and deceptively smooth flavor.

04.30.05 Bomber from Big Beer series. Dark amber, maple syrupy brown brew with only a trace of head that lasts. Rich malt aromas, sweet, earthy, box o’raisins. My first impression is that the body is perfect, not too thick or cloying, light eff still present; but as the bottle is drained, I find the beer tends toward medium-thin, maybe to thin especially at the finish where I’d like it to be a bit sticky. Peppery spice middle to back and lingering. Nasal alcohol hit after the swallow is a bit overbearing. This would do well with a year in the cellar.

On tap at Coles
Appearance: Slightly murky, brown brew with mid large creamy, tanned top. Good strong appearance.
Nose: Rich , sweet with brown malts . Hint of chocolate, caramel, little of plums and hops. 8-
Flavor/Palate : Full bodied, rich , clean with warming effect. Balancing bitterness is found. Neat solid example for cold late nights. Traditional, clear cut sample with roughneck like soul.

Reddish brown colour, minimal head. I had no probs with the alcohol here, the taste was of sweet malts and fruits. Not bad at all.

2004 bottle, thanks to whomever trade this to me (sorry, forgot) attractive ruby color with a giant beige head. alcohol and sweetness in the aroma, slightly bubble-gummy. excellent doppelbock, but still too alcoholic, as others mention. i should have waited until next spring to drink this!

Ruby red with a thin white head. Lots of alcohol in the nose. A little too hot. Needs to be set aside for some time.

Big and strong bock with a chewy, tofeeish malt character. Well-extracted maltiness, full body - a solid job.

The Lure:
A veil of head circles the clear ruby. Roasting cherries and drying apricots. Possibly thick and sweet malt, with a vegetal pils malt undertone.

The Festivities:
Roasted malt dominates the sweet and fruit components. Body is full, yet remains very drinkable. Hops of the herbal and earthy variety remain low-profile, but add an interesting flickering flame to the finish.

Transcendence:
You know when you get to Grandma’s you’ll get a hearty broth to calm that gurgling stomach.
